A couple of weeks ago i bought the game dirt and it worked fine on my notebook. But since today i can't read the dvd (dual layer dvd) of the game dirt anymore with my dvd drive. At my normal pc the dvd runs fine. I tried other dvd's in my notebook too, but they all work fine (no dual layer). I have no other dual layer dvd's i can try on this notebook of mine, but all tested dvd's and dvdrw's did work perfect. When i open my computer i see only a icon of an empty cd OR and icon of an empty dvd (always 1 of those both icons when i reinsert that dvd), so it seems it can't read the dvd. What should i do to fix my problem with the dirt dvd?
note: I do use the cd emulator alcohol, but i had that same program already when the dvd was readable. So i think that's out of the problemsoptions.

It uses starforce copy protection. Maybe you removed the driver inadvertently? Or maybe a spyware removal tool did. Try reinstalling the game, or repairing if that's an option.

did u try cleaning ur lens? alot of the problems occur when dust collects on ur dvd lens or in the motor. try using canned air and if that doesnt work try the special discs that have fin tipped brushes that clean the lens. they run abou 10-15 usd and can be found in just about any retail store.

just use no-dvd .exe and you won't ever have to use that DVD again to play the game, saving your DVD from scratching..
and as to why your dvd won't read, it can be several reasons, obviously dirty DVD surface, or dirty dvd-rom lens reader...etc, that's hardware related problems. As to software, StarForce Protection might be the problem, try update it to the latest version from its official website, also try install newer version firmware of the DVD-ROM, it also can be the DVD itself, try burn another copy of this disc and see if the 2nd copy works or not...
Good Luck on figuring it out. -
try using daemon instead and all safety options on

From the wiki I linked in my first post:
"StarForce is believed to operate by measuring the physical angle between the first and last written sector on the CD. This hardware signature is identical on all copies pressed from the gold master but is currently difficult to reproduce when burning a duplicate disc." -
