I have always dreamed of having a machine with a quadro instead of using the geforce products in my 3d work in 3dsmax,I always thought it would be heaven working with these demanding programes with a quadro

and finaly I got the 8510w,but all my dreams crached after using it,after installing the 3dsmax 9 sp2, I quickly switched to opengl driver thinking that I have the right to do it now,but the performance decreased dramatically from the directx dirver ,also the directx performance wasn't alot better than my 2 yrs old desktop 6600gt,So what are really the benifits of the QUADRO card if I can't run opengl well? why am I paying more money over the geforce?or is it just propaganda and name games.

and now all I get is laughs from a co-worker who have a dv9000 and 8600gs that can run 3dsmax just as good as me :(

Bs :Iam runnig vista bussiness 32 with latest drivers, also the gaming performance is good but that is not why I bought my laptop.

You may want to consider going to XP, from what I understand the openGL performance in vista is not nearly as good.

Also make sure your using the desktop drivers they may be a little fast then the manufacture ones.

The drawback here is Vista. It is said to perform at least 20% slower in dx and opengl. Get XP and let us know how is it performing!

I think that's a load of BS. Vista has no issues with dx and gl. Get the 1GB of RAM out of your notebook and get 2GB so that shared 6150 can breath a little. My 8600GS can max out memory at 1.5GB, and Vista flexes with it effortlessly in games. WoW, Battlefield 2, UT2004, Worms 4, Team Fortress 2, Half Life 1, 2, Lost Coast, all of them set to max with all shaders ect and I'm still getting frame rates never below 60 even in the heaviest battles.

Well, we should not expect miracles for sure, these cards have their benifits depending on what you're doing, not in any single task, and you should not expect that your notebook will fly just because you got a Quadro, but it should not suck as well..

Try this benchmarks to see if you have a problem or not...

And some results, they're tested under XP though, so you can't compare since Vista has its effect on performance, according to the benchmark's makers...

And, check out the Autodesk's site for information about the drivers support.

    Test and report it back.
