Just got my np9262 up and running but I cant play quake 3 on it because the game is very flickering, Im running on Windows 7 x64, 179.48 driver. Also installed the 1.32 & 1.32c patch but didnt work.

Im not sure on your laptop,i bet its a driver issue though,if i can run that game as smooth as butter on my presario C500 i think you should have no problems.Im using vista HP too.
Might be widows7 also, hows the sound when you play it any stuttering!!!.

Have you ever thought of playing quake live instead?

Yea I dont think its the laptop either, I tried disable Vsync and various options in 3D settings but didnt work, Ill install the lastest 7048 x64 and see how it goes.

when you say it does not work.... do you mean:
    - it does not start?
    - it starts, but closes immediately?
    ... etc...

Have you tried to run that game in Compatibility Mode?
... as well as in window mode (just in case if the game is picky about refresh rates, like BF2)

I guess its quite old and supports upto XP or 98. Try running in compatiablity mode.

It starts and works fine, but the screen wont stop flickering. Im guessing it the openGL driver but changing the driver didnt work either. Only gray when in Window mode and Compatbility Mode wont fix it.

Since the game is so old... back in the DirectX 3.0 days I believe..
you should try to play in in Windows 95/98 Mode.

If that still does not work, you should consider using a Virtual Machine... like:
    - VMware
    - Virtual PC
    - VirtualBox
    ... more here

just install an old OS like Win98SE on the virtual machine and you should be able to play Quake 3 on it fine... as long as the virtual videocard is decent with around 32-64mb of video memory.

I really do recommend to move on to a newer game, or at least a newer Quake. :)

You do have one of the most powerful notebooks around. ;)

7048 doesnt seem to fix the problem, Quake 4 has the same problem as well...I think this is an issue with GL driver.

What if you try using VgA driver but no Nvidia forceware?
