I'm not sure what you are trying to tweak, I think you should just put everything single setting in the game, including the resolution as low as they go, and then slowly go up and find settings that combine quality with a workable frame rate for you.

lags by little but not really major
here is the link to the video twekas

i hope some one can help me -
You could update your video drivers, overclock your card, uninstall anything you don't need on your computer, run a virus-scan, defragment your hard disk, make sure all other programs are closed, tweak the advanced graphics options until you get the best framerates..

is it a framerate thing or a "shudder" thing where it hangs for a split-second every few seconds?
i am going to assume it is the latter, and on that note, you need to upgrade your RAM.
get at least 1 gig, but really 2 gigs if your machine will take it.
1-2 gigs of ram is very cheap, too.
good luck. -
yep i am trying to find a gig for right price
but looks like only on the ddr2
not on ddr
i want a gig around 50dollars to 70 if i can
i thought about the rams i guess you are right. it is like impossible (running on 125 to 255mb of physical availiable) -
RAM would, as others mentioned, greatly help. As for the tweaks, most of them are console commands or changes to the config file. I think you should try adding more RAM first, that would make the most difference.

yeah i mean, running an "intensive" game like quake 4, you can just count up your ram and watch it go away...
your gpu is probably using about 128 megs of ram, windows is probably using 128 megs of ram on its own... that leaves 256 if you are lucky. quake 4 is probably going to want 512 megs all for its own at the MINIMUM. obviously your machine can't supply that, so your hard drive acts as (very slow) virtual ram. whenever that happens, the game stutters. (catch me if im wrong there). If you have 1 gig of ram, you are basically covered. 128 for windows, 128 for your vram. that leaves 750 or so for your game. much better. -
quake 4!!
