    I originally bought this game on DVD and decided to give it to a friend to buy the downloadable version from EA because I didn't want to keep the disc handy whenever i want to play, and i'm not a fan of setting up a virtual drive or other software app so that i can play the game without the disc in the drive.

    so i bought the downloadable copy from EA, and i managed to get the game to start using a shortcut that points directly to the Crysis.exe executable in the bin64 folder, I do so WITHOUT eadm running (i used eadm the first time i launched the game, but since then i have not used it). ea tech support is lame, and they won't directly answer my response as to why the game works without eadm running. but EA says eadm is necessary to verify the licensce. i have been sucessfully running the game without eadm open (i also removed it from startup).

    can any1 tell if if they were sucessfully able to UNINSTALL eadm and continue running the game ? i am thinking there may be some files that are in the eadm folders that contain the info needed to verify the install was purchased ?

    Your first and most critical mistake was buying a game on-line from EA.

    Never. Again.

    EA = Electronic *******s.

    no dispute there....

    but to this effect, i've bought 3 games so far from direct2drive and only needed the dm to download the actual games. once installed and activated, i could delete the dm and play the games fine.

    now i'm trying to figure out i'm supposed to back up the download i bought from EA....

    Backup everything inside the "C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EADM\cache\{##########}" folder and put it back when you want to re-install.

    done. saved the eadm folder to a dvd-dl and deleted the folder. hopefully if i need to re-install the game, simply putting back the folder will work.
