I have a 4850 that i tried putting in my msi gx720 but cant seem to get the bios to show up or anything for that matter windows boots i hear the sound but nothing on the screen. it use to work fine on my msi gx620 but cant seem to get it working on the gx720. Now my question is i have had this card for about 6 months i say. I havent used it in 4months just started using it. You think if i call up alienware asking if they can test/repair you think they would? or should i get an actual person with an alienware comp to do it for me?

Without the laptop it is suppose to go into, Alienware wont help, especially if you are trying to install it into another machine. If it works in the 620 and not the 720 then it is due to a BIOS restriction somewhere. Then again if you havent used it for 4 months it could just have shorted out. Bottom line, dont expect help from Alienware on this issue unless you claim it has and always will be in an Alienware laptop.

wierd laptop generaly don't boot whne ther is something wrong and the 4850 are not suposed to be restricted
maybe your bios has no suport for ati cards? -
well i found out it boots it works thru vga to an external. So im just gonna sell it posting up a new thread right now to sell it.

try uninstalling the stok ati driver that are on your computer i've seen even where on mine 10.7 driver get corupted data and display only through VGA
-
i dont have any ati drivers. maybe if i uninstall my nvidia drivers from my 9600m gt?
-
nvidia driver shoudl not interfere
well there are the default ones but you could try to install the ati catalyst mobility if your card is a 4850 it should work flawless -
niffcreature ex computer dyke
try flashing the vbios.
I had 5 fx 3600m cards that simply would not display on LCD, worked great on VGA then I flashed them all to 9800gt, all worked flawlessly on my display.
when i flashed this fx 3700m to overclock it to gtx 280m speeds (different one, still used an fx 3700m vbios) i got a black screen like twice, after that it started working perfect.
you just never know -
yea thought about it but im a noob when it comes to flashing only done bios and ecc. not sure its the same either way ima sell the card and buy me a desktop and only use my laptop for if I have to take it to class or go to a friends house and lan.
