I have many questions. My video card(nvidia geforce go 7400 notebook) in direct x has 128mb of memory however when total this memory is 300mb(about) what going on. I was using everest home edition 2005 for all of this by the way
memory test for nvidia card
Direct3D Device Properties
Available Local Video Memory 122456 KB
Available Non-Local Video Memory (AGP) 188415 KB
Anyway the test show my card doesn't have z-bit 32bit nor 17 other item in the list. However my parent computer(desktop) has an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 card and it appear to have 32bit and is only missing 14 item from that list. I though that the 7400 was more powerful than the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 but why is the card missing more features. I tryed to update the driver it now show in the non-local

the reason everest home edition is not showing the full details of your graphics card is because:
1.everest home is discontinued
2.your graphics card comes in the 2006 era, so a 2005 version of everest home (which dose not update) will be unable to indentify it.
as for the nonlocal memory.....well i dont know...it might be turbocache -

The GeForce Go7400 uses "TurboCache" technology, which allows the video card to draw off the main system memory for use as video RAM. See the GPU guide for more info.

yea...what chaz said
be sure to read his fantastic guide!!!! it helps alot with these kinds of questions -
How old is my parants. anyways it detect the name of the graphic card(it gave a message first time with my intel card, intel gma 950) as well as my parents computer about it been little data about it. I not sure about local and non-local however my sister computer(2-3 years) old use a intel extreme graphic a card so bad that with 386mb of ram and celecon 2.6ghz the computer couldn't play halo nor call of duty well, however it show the video card memory has local however it lack non local memory. I had already read the guide(or I won't have post thinking the card was more powerful). however the direct x dianotics and the system requirement lab were saying 128 mb and showing no prove of turbocache.

With GPUs that use shared memory technologies like the Go7400, it is often difficult to tell exactly how much dedicated memory they have. If you tell us what laptop you have, we can tell you how much dedicated video memory your Go7400 has. The most any Go7400 has is 128MB dedicated.

VGN-SZ220, I should probably mention that the card didn't have agp texture acceration support(except for the 7400 of course). Also what is my video card memory after turbocache. I thinking that this Available Local Video Memory 122456 KB
Available Non-Local Video Memory (AGP) 188415 KB, might be the turbocache because it increase with upgrading of the driver if it was fix then it would remain the same(I think at least). The intel card is newer and may not detect like normal. -

The Sony VAIO SZ has 128MB of dedicated video RAM. With TurboCache, it can go anywhere from 256 - 512MB. Go into Desktop Properties > Settings tab > Advanced button > Adapter tab, then look next to "Memory Size."
-
okay that is propably the reason for the memory increase when I update the drivers. that shows 128 also. Is it possible that 256 doesn't show it in direct x diagnotics or there because it is only there if needed and display only 128mb.. Also on a side note how good would this card(and the intel gma ge 945) be for vista(intel duel core 1.83, 1gb of ram upgradable to 2gb)

Vista's Aero interface can run on an Intel GMA950, so the Go7400 is more than enough.
Whatever is reported in the Adapter tab in the Desktop Properties is what to go by.
-
Well call of duty says recommends 256 for it max texture (extra) however the info only says 128. Most game I like recommend 256mb and this could be nice to know if this is the case.

Nvidia's TurboCache technology works very well, so you can set up the texture without an issue. Perhaps not at the absolute highest ("High" textures should be okay in CoD 2, but "Ultra" may prove too demanding for your video card to handle), but definitely at settings where the game will "look good."
-
With a 7400, the amount of memory that your card has will not be the limiting factor; it will be the speed of the card itself. But as Chaz said, you should be able to run most games at acceptable levels. I wouldn't recommend using really high textures on games because you should really have at least 256MB of dedicated memory for that. While Turbocache is a decent technology, you'll notice problems with really high resolution textures.
-
the opinion was set to extra and I never went down below 44 fps and had an average of 58-59 fps in call of duty(1st game of the year edition). Never games I probably will have problem but this is 4 years old so the lack of the 128 additionly dedicated may not be as a big a deal as with newer games.
