    So I thought all Radeon's were made by ati...but then I saw in MaximumPC an add for a SAPHIRE radeon...eh? Is this like how Geforce is?

    And also..how do the x700, x800, etc (i.e. ### less than 1000) stack up against the numbers above 1k? ...if anyone understands what I'm asking lol

    Saphire is just a manufacturer of the card itself: ATi provides the reference chipset and other companies make the actual cards. The same is true of nVidia.

    Also, the rough approximation between the xX00 series and the x1X00 series is as follows:

    x1300 = x600
    x1400 = x700
    x1600 = x800
    x1800/x1900 is unmatched

    Obviously the extensions (SE, none, XL, XT, XTX, in order of increasing performance) matter as well, as do clock speeds and number of pixel pipelines. You might want to do some research into the various models, or just ask a more specific question and someone will be happy to clarify things for you.

    actually its like this:
    x1300=x300 (the x1300 is the newer generation version of the x300)
    x1400=x600 (the x1400 is the replacement for the x600)
    x1600=x700 (yada yada yada)
    x1800=x800 (yada yada yada)
    x1900=no match in the xX00 series

    the same is with nVidia cards:
    Go6200=Go7300
    Go6400=Go7400
    Go6600=Go7600
    Go6800=Go7800
    (though obviously the newer generation cards have better performance. the "=" sign is only used to show which card is the ancestor of which...not to show equal performance.....for example....the Go6600 is not = to the Go7600 in performance....but the Go7600 is the GeForce 7 series version for the Go6600)

    look at the guide in my siggy for more information on graphics card naming thingies... ;)

    Lowlymarine's list is more accurate in terms of performance. Deedeeman's list, as he states afterwards, shows the hierarchy of the X### series compared with the X1### series.

    Lowley marines is accurate in terms of benchmarking. Not real world. In real world performance, DeeDeemans is more accurate.
