What specs do you need to to run supcom and forged alliance at medium at 1280x800 with 20+fps?

I know i can just look at recommended settings but those are usually incorrect and dont work well.

Same thing here. I have the same laptop as aan310 but I have a t7500 instead of a t8300. Anything with a 8600m, 9500m or 9600m shoudn't have any problem with the resolution at which you want to play it. On the ATI side look for a hd2600, hd3650 or hd3670.

I think that you easily get 30fps+ on high at 1280x800. I was getting 20-25fps on high at 1980x1200 on my HD3650. And the 9600m Gt is quite a bit more powerful that the hd3650...

I play FA a lot, and on my old 2600 it didn't run that good at 1280x800.

Supcom is hard to guage because it seems to run fine until you get into a big fight and the fps can drop to 10. That's the time when you don't want it dropping, because it makes it super hard to control units.

    I would recommend atleast a 9600m GT and 2.4 C2D.

I really don't get a big FPS diff between the 2 games... i don't have forged installed, because none of my friends have it... but i'd say it was the same when it was installed

I read a lot of forum posts and lots of people get a drop in forged alliance that makes it unplayable. also, i dont mind playing just supcom original, but the AI could be better for skirmishes and stuff and there could be more units

    idk...

Frankly, i don't have any problems playing the origional over the FA, but then again, i usually dont deal with the AI

FA is so much better for multiplayer than vanilla, they're not even the same game.

well the campaign in the new one is harder, so you have to know the basics first. I just hope mine will run the same way that aan130's did.

well, think about it, the worst that can happen is you need to run it on low on native resolution... and it still looks geat on low.

P.S. check target, i got my box set for $8 there :p

thats a nice fps and i'll probably be playing @ 1280x800, but you have dual 3870 and I only have a 9600m GT.

btw, if you get both games, play the first one until you get used to it then play the second, because the campaign in the second is hard

also, where did you find the $8 set?

Averaged 44+FPS in the perftest, with all settings on MAX and AA set at 4 (might have been 2).

And yes, at that point it was CPU limited.

Oh okay, it's probably the 4xAA that dropping your framerate.

I plan on playing at 1680x1050, so my fps will be taking a big hit, even with my CPU.

I average more than that actually PLAYING the game. I was using the built in benchmark as a reference for whoever else is looking. Actual gameplay gets higher FPS.

That's only because you're building your base and not doing anything intense. The benchmark's numbers come from what happens when you actually get into fighting, which is when it is important.

Add /map perftest to the end of the command in the shortcut.

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe" /map perftest
