I played Everquest briefly early in it's life, and Anarchy Online for awhile when it first came out. More recently I played WoW for a good while. The thing that bothered me about all of them, even more than the grinding, is the overwhelming immaturity of the communities. Even on role playing servers, nobody really roleplays, and as such the grinding is amplified.

So which MMO's have the most mature, role playing committed communities?

Guild wars is nice, but I dunno if you consider that an MMO...

A mature community may be hard to find. It's usually the smaller MMOs which have better communities.

I would say that check out upcoming Age of Conan. That game sure looks promising.

I also liked Guild Wars very much, but that game is all about how mature your guild is. Mine was/is great so.. I got nothing but positive things to say about it.

Older games are the ones with the mature communities. The original Everquest, probably Everquest 2, Eve Online, Planetside, etc. I can't personally vouch for EQ2, but I know the others are fairly together in terms of community. In all cases, getting into a good corporation (EVE), outfit (Planetside), or guild (EQ, fantasy MMO's) is what makes the game last. Its the Human Element. Heh.

My best bet is Eve Online. That said, it's pretty different from your regular MMO's (less grind though), and probably isn't for everyone...But I'm enjoying it, and the community is very different. Generally much more mature. :D

I would have to agree with Jalf. It is highly probable that EVE online has the most mature community

Agree, been playing Eve-Online for 3 years, and the community is simply spectacular. You will not find a more mature bunch of individuals. Just beware of the curve, it's why there is such a mature community to begin with :)

I will also cast my vote for Eve Online as possibly being the MMOG with the most mature playerbase.
