I'm playing this game yesterday and it worked perfectly on the highest resolution (1600x900)
but it doesn't last long, today I played it with a lot of lag, I tried to decrease the video performance like turning of the shadow, make the texture to low, and even decrease the resolution to 1280x720
it helps, but not that much, I'm curious of how could I get the exact performance as yesterday

I own i5-M540 and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 if you need that informations :D

Install the 10.7 beta drivers, there is a thread a couple down with a link to them. Then let us know.

You should be able to max that just fine.

Your GPU might be downclocking because of high temperatures. Install a software like HWmonitor in your computer, run it, play MW for about an hour on your max settings, then come back and post a screenshot with the temperatures.

Those specs should have absolutely zero trouble maxing out CoD4 at native resolution with a steady 100+ frames per second.

Were you playing online? Typically "lag" in my mind infers some sort of internet problem, not a drop in FPS, have you even check your FPS to see what it is? Perhaps you just had a person with a bad connection...

Like Shroom said, COD4 should have no problem running on your computer. And those temperatures is nothing to be concerned about. Make sure it's on high performance mode and make sure the charger is plugged in.

Alright... HWmonitor is not recognizing the GPU on your computer. I think it is a common error with mobile ATI GPU's though, you might just need to use another program to check the temperatures. Try this HWiNFO32 Download

Also, remember that you need to have the program running while you play the game. If you run it after playing, it will just show up your current temperatures. You want to know what is the peak temperature of your GPU while you are playing the game, or doing any other demanding task that make heavy use of the GPU. If it is over 100c, your GPU is most likely underclocking itself to avoid frying itself.

If it is indeed a problem with temperatures, you will get better help from your laptop's brand/manufacturer subforum.
