    Hello,

Did anyone try running GoW on their 1520? if so, what kind of settings did you try running it as? It doesn't run smooth on my computer. My specs are below.

    thanks

I have a 1720 with nearly the same specs. I run it at 12x8 medium/high settings. It stays above 30 FPS nearly the entire time I play. I haven't tried playing it on high settings yet (I have heard that high texture settings severely affects FPS). It should run fine on your laptop. be sure not to run it in DX10 mode... there is absolutely no visual difference, yet the framerates drop substantially. What drivers are you running?

I'm running it at 1280 x 1024 with everything high on an overclocked 8600 at 555/490.

Switch to highest settings with 163.71 drivers and you'll be fine! I run it on the highest texture setting. It does drop at times to 26fps but most of the time it remains above 40fps.. I hv an overclocked 7900 and i run the same resolution as you.. Hey i even tried to play it on my native resolution which is 1440x900 and it ran at a constant 30 but during alot of action it stuttered alot!

thank you all for the help,

My foceware version is 156.55. I'm running the game all at mid. settings and I have DX10 turned on. the Resolution is set the 12x8. I find the game extremely choppy at some scenes.
Any Idea why?, I'll try turning DX10 off since your saying it doesn't have any visual effect...

When I saw dx10 was supported, I went to do some research on it...and this is what I found. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTQxNiwxLCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

Btw, when reading forums on this game, I noticed many are losing their saves. Happened to anyone? I don't want to experience the frustration of losing my progress. :)

    good find KiwiBoy.

I read the whole article and it clearly says that there is not difference between DX10 or 9.

I turned off DX10 and I found a HUGE difference. no chopping at all. I'm going to try again with higher settings.
Does anyone have similar speced laptop as mine and tried playing it at the highest settings with DX10 off?

    thank you

Practically there is no difference... DX10 only lets you enable AA in GeOW

Turn DX 10 off, and don't use any Texture settings higher than "Medium", and you should be fine :).

Yeah, I have seen benchmarks in which GeOW has random lag spikes with texture settings higher than medium.

Epic is going to fix the stuttering problem with the first patch for the game. Apparently it has something to do with the way the engine streams textures in that they never fixed from the xbox version, and that's what is causing the skipping.

I have a 1520 with slightly lower specs and i'm getting 20-40 fps with all settings at medium, vivid post processing, no AA at 1280x800. I'm currently using 169.04, which seems to be the best driver so far.

By the way, does anyone else get a severe framerate drop playing the subway multiplayer map? I'm guessing it has something to do with the rain effect that's causing it to drop to 15-20 fps.
