yes, because you need to make the technology available and within reach of the general public. The GTX 460m is still new technology for consumers and it's price point would be just right for entry level, since the state of the art Sandy Bridge would cost an arm and a leg. It's aimed at a certain category of consumers to buy so Sandy Bridge sells alot and hits critical mass for support. Also the power of the GTX 460m shouldn't be underestimated, coupled with the new technology of Sandy Bridge it should run new and modern games without a hiccup especially BFBC2, GTA IV, and even Crysis...

The 460m is a great card, a friend of mine has an ASUS G73idunno with this card and it runs all the games he plays on highest settings in full HD really fine (BlackOps, BFBC2, NFS HP etc)

    5870 oc's better than 460M

My GX740's 5870 clocks to 9.2k GPU vantage score, the 460M gets to maybe 8500 OCed.

wow man!are there any heatin issues on gx740 with 5870 oc'ed that much?do u need to use a cooling pad?heard gx740's screen is poor quality though its lower res. helps games..i took a poll and they thought gx660r was a more viable option than 740...however personally i m more inclined to 740 or g73jw without having to go through bios gsod and heating issues...i would love a 5870..but since msi is cheaper they say it has poor built n i will hav to rma it unless i m very lucky...i think u can feel me bearclaw as i m goin2buy 1 this jan... :)

No issues at all with newest vBIOS. I have the back cover off with a NC2000 cooler and it's about 76C under full load for 1+ hours. With everything normal it would be maxing about 82C which is acceptable.

As long as you're not going over 100C temps makes no difference.

At the moment he usually clocks it at 800/1350/1600 which really makes some difference. But the card is already pretty impressive at stock clocks imho.

I'd go with the MSI 660 in that case. It has the HD5870M with a good vBios. The cooling is the best among them. Performance the best. Battery life is the best. Screen is still 1080, could be better. BUt overall the best by a large margin IMO.

Cooling is better on the 660 by a lot, the better speakers is a perk and the 1080p screen.

Dr.coool that poll is very one sided it was posted in the asus forum after all, I'm with Bearclaw I'm more than happy with my Gx740 I'm not sure why every one says the screen is crap I find it very good, it's far better than my old Asus G2s screen.
