How do you make changes in the BIOS to tell your gpu to use more system memory? I'm told this occurs in the BIOS, if it doesn't then where does it occur?

Also I'm using an ATI x1270... I don't know if that makes any difference

It is handled in the driver...and cannot be changed by the user.

Actually you can change the amount of shared memory in the BIOS, there should be an option for it.

My xpress 1100 can be configured anywhere from 32 to 256mb.

I replied to your PM, but for anyone else out there, on my computer (aspire 5102 with the xpress 1100) there is a clear option in the BIOS for changing the amount of shared memory. At first it went only up to 128mb, but with an updated BIOS that changed to 256.
