so i have a dilemma...im playing bioshock right now on my hp laptop that has a 8400m gs card. it runs decent (everything is on low) and is very playable, but sometimes the frame rate drops really low and it stutters.

will downloading updated drivers from laptop2go improve gameplay significantly? i've heard some bad things about using the unofficial drivers from here..most notably with fan/temperature problems with the GPU. im using the stock drivers from the hp website fyi.

    thanks!

Yes you should. It will make a difference as some of the newer drivers are tweaked for some specific game support. On occasion, people see a 25% increase above stock drivers. I would suggest to use the modified inf file as well that way you do not have to worry if you card is natively supported. Good luck.

PS: You will have to try many drivers, but the payoff is worth the time.

If your using the stock drivers then yes, you will definitely see improvement.

Theres no problems using unofficial drivers. I have a 8400m GS myself and ive been using lv2go drivers.

I agree with the other posters. Doing it can only improve the situation. If it still lags a bit afterwards, oh well, at least you tried.

lol yeah man, i noticed since the first day i played Counter Strike with my laptop ( a year ago), i was getting about 40fps everything on high. I downloaded the latest drivers at that time period (i think it was 170xx) and it got me to solid 60fps.

You WILL see an increase. Download DOX's performance tweaked 180.70 drivers. Everyone has had good results from what i read. I havent noticed a difference yet but i will check on other games soon :)
