Hey guys, I'm gonna be outside of internet access while on vacation, and I was wondering it anyone could recommend some good offline (or atleast single player focused) games to pick up?

atm im playing F.E.A.R, halo, and infernal all of them have pretty solid single player modes and i just ordered deus ex from ebay all of them have pretty solid single player modes, none of which need you to be online.

F.E.A.R., STALKER, Heros of Might and Magic V, NFS MW, Jade Empire, LOTR Battle for Middle earth.
-
Half Life 2.
-
Might as well state the obvious, Oblivion is amazing.
-
Titan Quests , NWN 2, Silent hunter 3
-
FEAR has a great single-player campaign. Half Life 2 is also great.
funny deus ex was mentioned because i've had that game for years and i just started playing it again last week. it's very immersing and is easy on system resources -
Sneaky_Chopsticks Notebook Deity
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

If you like Role Playing...

Neverwinter Nights 2 -
INEEDMONEY Homicidal Teddy Bear
Solitaire, free cell, hearts, pinball, spider solitaire....

Jade Empire...period... ,besides oblivion, HL2 ,and FarCry, it is one of the best games i played........its kinda like dreamfall, but with better fighting styles.......im still playing it right now, and let me tell you IM HOOKED
-
You should give Overlord a try, that game perfectly combines the dark twisted humor from dungeon keeper with the strategy elements of pikmin.
And it's totally addictive. : )

I would definitely agree with Jade Empire - anything that company Bioware touches is gold. They also did the Baldur's Gate series and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I (Obsidian did KOTOR II). So if you haven't played any of those games, they are required as well. Also, a couple of older ones: Warhammer: Dawn of War series and Rise of Nations... can't get much better for RTSs nowadays. And speaking of current RTSs, Supreme Commander and C&C3 are at the top.
Finally, if you like poker and want to get better, Poker Academy 2.0 (actually now 2.5) can't be beat. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the 3D poker games, but it's got everything else. Namely, very smart AI and tons of customization options (can you tell I'm a poker fan?). -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
why did no one mention minesweeper?
-
Oblivion
-
Jade Empire FTW!!!!! It is great, and adictive, and GREAT!!! Also, Fable is pretty fun, its worth your 10 bucks.
-
Gonna have to say Oblivion like so many others here. It simply is amazing. Another that I can think of is the Splinter Cell series as they are just rock solid.
-
im doing the same thing also how about stalker ? or is there another game with hotseat that would be good also ?
-
Can u play HL 2 without an internet connection ?? I thought steam activation/internet is required to run and play HL 2
-
Yeah, you can play offline, but you've gotta do some tweaks. There's a guide floating around on these interwebz.
An amazing game is American McGee's Alice. It's creepy, and violent, and oh so single player. It's an amazing game. And you will love it. And it will love you.
American McGee's Scrapland is also pretty good. Likewise with Bad Day LA, but it does get a bit repetitive. Scrapland is kinda like GTA only with robots and spaceships and cool things that GTA doesn't have. It's very underrated.
Ghost Recon 2, if you like strategic shooters (not Advanced Warfighter 2). -
The Hitman Series. Start with the newest and work backwards as it gets harder.
Max Payne series are oldies but goodies. -
I only played Hitman: Blood money because the moment I started playing Hitman: Contracts (the older game) the game felt so unpolished comparing to Blood Money...
-
^^^ Oh yeah, how could I forget Max Payne 1 & 2?!? Great stuff!
*wonders if OP's been on his vacation yet as this develops into a monster thread* -
You just have to log into steam, and save your password so it auto logs in, then load up HL2, and every time you play without internet it will just log into offline mode and let you play HL2 offline. But like I said, you have to save your pass in steam.
Oh, and yea, I'd reccomend ALice aswell, that game is twisted!
Racing= The entire NFS series
RTS= Rise of nations, Age of empires 1 2 or 3, Starcraft, WC, Warhammer etc.
FPS= HL2, Halo CE, FEAR, Call of juarez.
Adv/RPG/act= Oblivion, GTA SA, Awsome SP HL2 MODS -
A little buggy, but Punisher was awesome! Its a fun little game where you can pretty much do whatever the heck you want.
Right now I'm hooked on Supreme Commander. It is a beast of a game that'll drain your system resources. From what I've heard, there isn't a computer on the planet that can run Supreme Commander without lagging.
single player/offline only games?
