lol... Get Quake 4 if you want a hardcore first person shooter game. The single player storyline is quite good imo and it has lots for you to kill as well! :p

You should give Overlord a try, that game perfectly combines the dark twisted humor from dungeon keeper with the strategy elements of pikmin.
    And it's totally addictive. : )

I would definitely agree with Jade Empire - anything that company Bioware touches is gold. They also did the Baldur's Gate series and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I (Obsidian did KOTOR II). So if you haven't played any of those games, they are required as well. Also, a couple of older ones: Warhammer: Dawn of War series and Rise of Nations... can't get much better for RTSs nowadays. And speaking of current RTSs, Supreme Commander and C&C3 are at the top.

Finally, if you like poker and want to get better, Poker Academy 2.0 (actually now 2.5) can't be beat. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the 3D poker games, but it's got everything else. Namely, very smart AI and tons of customization options (can you tell I'm a poker fan?).

Gonna have to say Oblivion like so many others here. It simply is amazing. Another that I can think of is the Splinter Cell series as they are just rock solid. :)

Yeah, you can play offline, but you've gotta do some tweaks. There's a guide floating around on these interwebz.

An amazing game is American McGee's Alice. It's creepy, and violent, and oh so single player. It's an amazing game. And you will love it. And it will love you.

American McGee's Scrapland is also pretty good. Likewise with Bad Day LA, but it does get a bit repetitive. Scrapland is kinda like GTA only with robots and spaceships and cool things that GTA doesn't have. It's very underrated.

Ghost Recon 2, if you like strategic shooters (not Advanced Warfighter 2).

The Hitman Series. Start with the newest and work backwards as it gets harder.

Max Payne series are oldies but goodies.

Hitman: Blood money and Max Payne were good. ;) I only played Hitman: Blood money because the moment I started playing Hitman: Contracts (the older game) the game felt so unpolished comparing to Blood Money...

You just have to log into steam, and save your password so it auto logs in, then load up HL2, and every time you play without internet it will just log into offline mode and let you play HL2 offline. But like I said, you have to save your pass in steam.

Oh, and yea, I'd reccomend ALice aswell, that game is twisted!

    Racing= The entire NFS series
RTS= Rise of nations, Age of empires 1 2 or 3, Starcraft, WC, Warhammer etc.
FPS= HL2, Halo CE, FEAR, Call of juarez.
Adv/RPG/act= Oblivion, GTA SA, Awsome SP HL2 MODS

A little buggy, but Punisher was awesome! Its a fun little game where you can pretty much do whatever the heck you want.
Right now I'm hooked on Supreme Commander. It is a beast of a game that'll drain your system resources. From what I've heard, there isn't a computer on the planet that can run Supreme Commander without lagging.
