    Hi,
I just bought a new laptop with an x1400, i have upgraded the ram to 1,5 gb and have a 5,400 rpm hard drive.
So i thought that should be enough to play fifa 05 at mediocore settings. Problem is as the title suggest that the menu's are way slower than the real gameplay. Does anyone have any idea why this could be?
My personal guess is that the game loads the menu's directly of the hard drive and not into the memory, and since mine is quite slow the menu's are slow. Is this a correct conlusion? Cause need for speed most wanted has exactly the same problem.

The problem is your Hard Drive...

Slow Hard Drive but lots of RAM.

However, you might want to run a HD tune benchmark to see how fast your hard drive is... for a 5400rpm HD, the average speed should be ~28-32

ok, so technically speaking with a faster hard drive like 7200 rpm, it would al be solved?
PS: hd tune gave an average of 27,9 mb/sec so it's a 5400 rpm

The hard drive isn't your problem, I can tell you that much. What is the exact problem - I can't get a clear idea from your original post. Is the gameplay fine?

well, the problem is, i don't know if you ever played fifa 2005, but well let's assume you haven't.
The menu's in fifa 2005 are from the type that zoom in and out. and those zooming in and out goes very slow. But once i have started a game, everything is fine. So my guestion is, how come?

Might just be the way the games set out. I know the menus are sluggish in 06 as well.

well, it's very slow, i have a desktop pc with a x800 pro, 1 gb, 10000 rpm hard drive and on that pc it's fine. I guess it would have to be around 5x as slow.
so i thought that the problem could be the graphic card or hard drive, but well since the gameplay is fine, i guessed it would have to be the hard drive.
