i just got a call from the shop i planned to get my rig from - they're having some difficulties obtaining the stuff for me... they can try other supplier but then they would try to make the thing more expensive... at the same time another shop got 2 other contenders. now i am to make a decision whether to stay with the current rig (rig 1) or switch to another (2 or 3) to get it faster.
what would you suggest to be better gaming-wise:
1- jfl92 based rig (codenamed CA161s) - t9300 + 2x2gb ram + 200gb@7200 + 8600gt ddr2 512mb
2- hp 8510w - t7500 + 2gb ram (another stick in the basket) + 120gb@7200 + quadro fx 570m (256mb ddr3)
3- ibm t61p - t7500 + 2x1gb + 100gb@7200 + quadro fx 570m (256mb ddr3)
which of these would you choose? hp's probably faster a bit than the thinkpad, but is compal worse/better? after all there are differences in hdd, gpu and cpu...

The 8510w and T61p are identical in speed and performance but the standard Seagate hard drive in the T61p is better.
Don't look at the JFL92 based rig, the 512 8600M GT DDR2 isn't nearly as good as the 256 MB GDDR3 variant in the other two choices. Both the 8510w and T61p are also available with Penryn processors, though CPU power wont be as important as hard drive speed and GPU (for gaming). -
I think the T61p comes in 14" with 570 as well right?
That would be hot.
as in awesome. -
@mippoose - yeah it does, it's with the reduced memory however (128mb vs regular 256mb)
@skeeterx8 - i know they come, but at the shops i know i can get gut support before and after "spending the money" they're not that available... actually 1 shop has penryn t61p on sell, but it comes for ~7500pln+ (7500,00 PLN = 2115,1785 EUR = 3256,9047 USD = 1617,1460 GBP = 3319,6123 CHF) while regular merom based units are priced at 5500,00 PLN = 1551,1309 EUR = 2388,3968 USD = 1185,9071 GBP = 2434,3823 CHF... i also unfortunately do not have these kind of funds on me, nor i'm willing to spend nearly 8k pln on a rig... as then i could almost get either m15x or clevo's 8800gtx rig
so to makes things clear, and straight,
t7500 + q570m > t9300 + 8600gt512mbddr2
right?
would the difference in hdds factor (120gb@7200 by seagate, 100gb@7200 by seagate - both with 8mb of cache and sata1 - or seagate's momentus 200gb@7200 w/16mb cache sata2) much in such rigs' comparison? would they change the sign of inequality?
thx for all your replies. damn, i really need to work on the decision processes
some after-thoughts - help?
