wonder if someone can help me with this question: My Sony Vaio has lost its sound, I was told that it has a short in the sound card and the mother board has to be removed, the card is soldered onto the mother board and was told it would be expensive to fix it, if you have no sound on the computer can you purchase a sound blaster card, insert it and by using head phones get sound that way even tho the internal sound is gone, thanks bob

I think I understood your question.

First, find you what kind of expansion slot you have: it's either a PCMCIA or Expresscard slot. There's 3 types of PC cards: I, II, and III. Expresscards come in /34 and /54 versions.

Find such a sound card that fits your laptop if you really can't fix the on-board stuff.
