so i saw my friend's macbook the other day. he ran starcraft on it and instead of stretching, the macbook cut off the sides to keep the aspect ratio of the game (since he had a widescreen). is there a way to do that on pcs? specifically dell?

There's an option in the BIOS to turn stretching off. Also, in newer drivers the nVidia Control Panel offers a way to do this. But the BIOS is the sure-fire way to do it. Just press F2 as the BIOS is loading and search around. It's clearly labeled.

Okay, well apparently this works in older drivers as well. I have Dell's v84.29 and if you go to the nVidia settings and click on Digital Flat Panel Settings, you have the option to choose this.

Ha ha wow star craft. I actually pulled this game out a few days ago and ran it on my 1210. It was in widescreen and wasnt streched. Its like it just widened. It looks really good on a widescreen imo. Ive actually stayed up all night playing now that I look at the time. I should prolly go to bed (5am already!?)
standard view on widescreen?
