Thought is start this for technical issues and such....
Is anyone else having problems playing offline? Says I need to authenticate right after I disconnect from multiplayer
-
Im trying to download the game now with a 7 hour guest key and it keeps stopping saying download needs to be authenticated go to blizzard and download new copy..... dont know whats going on........ill keep trying see what happens....!!!
-
Everytime I power off my system, I have to re-authenticate in order to enable offline mode, which really sucks. Clicking on Pylons (revealing their area of coverage) slows my system down to a crawl, going from 50 fps to 20 fps. Mouse cursor becomes a corrupt, garbled mess sometimes but aside from that, everything's peachy.

I don't remember which misson exactly but I think it was the doctor Nurad rescue misson, for no apparent reason my screen went blank and couldn't do anything besides a reboot. I couldn't ctrlaltdtl, alttab, altwindows, nothing.
-
Yeah, the reauthenticate is a hassle. i figured out a way around it.
theres also an option to take away the pylon graph, so that it is just an outlined circle. -
Really? Where?! Is it in the graphics option?

Forge should be made an Advanced Building.

Lol lost to a cannon rush eh?
My only complaint is that region locks should be removed >:[ -
Blizzard's failure to support 1366x768 is obnoxious. The game only supports 136 0x768, so everything has a slight blur to it, especially text. My GPU can't seem to scale 1360x768 properly, either; with both "Centered" and "Fixed Aspect Ratio" it stretches it anyways.
I also get horrible UI lag unless I check "Reduce mouse lag," which corrects the UI lag at the cost of a few FPS.
Also, why does SC2 want my authenticator to log in? It's not like someone who hacked your B.Net account could do anything from within the game, besides play it. It's not like you have stuff to vendor or gold to steal.
Oh, and I really appreciate that when my roommate and I want to play we have to go through B.Net. Especially given Bright House's tendency to kick us offline about 15 times a day, that's real convenient. -
How?From where?Could you be more specific?

My only complaint is finding this for download on steam. Is it offered? Im new in the Steam community.

It's not a steam game....

Ok so for me... my complaint is the offline bullcrap.
i bought the game and authenticated it online, but now where im at, i cannot get online because they block battle.net here.
SO I CANNOT EVEN PLAY OFFLINE even tho i registered the stupid game on this pc.
And it did work for a few days, then bam "sorry were blizzard and u have to authenticate ur account again even tho u paid $60 just to play it. We dont care about u btw, just that we got the money. muhahahaah."
so now im looking for alternatives, just to play it offline. And I did figure out a way to actually get past the login screen, but it freezes everytime i try and play single player. It seems like I should have had this right when i authenticated the account, then it would work.
How about u authenticate ur account ONCE, and then u should be good?
wait...that would make sense, so nvm. -

Big brother Didier is watching! -
for everyone who had the authentication problem, it was a wide spread problem blizzard actually released a patch for it to correct it. So soon as you can get into B.net, download patch and log in once. And the problem should be fixed. Considering they did release a whole patch for the issue.
It worked for me! i was almost sad i have an 8 hour plane ride home but now starcraft 2 whole way home!
Again....
1)find internet(ie. bnet blocked guy)
2)download patch
3)log in to authenticate again
4)Wa-la you can now do what we are all doing...selling our souls to kerrigan -
Mine does this too, even when I exit the game it's still FUBAR'd

Way too many times

That could actually be due to system overheating. I once read an article where it talked about how starcraft 2 somehow makes the gpu very hot for no reason, and even the article referenced to the official sc2 battle net forums. The employees of blizzard also acknowledged the problem.
Yet again, I am not an expert in computers so I could be wrong. -
Nope.avi
Steam does not support any blizzard game currently. You can still add sc2 shortcut to steam but you can't download sc2 via steam.
And I really doubt it for Blizzard and VALVe to team up together (i.e. blizzard games coming to Steam) -
Has anyone experienced issues where if you press the windows key by mistake when playing SC2, it freezes the game and will not let you go back in? I'm experiencing this issue specifically on G73 laptop with 10.6 video drivers. It is very random and I'm unable to force this issue. However, it has happened enough time to take some losses online.
-
I just tried it twice and my game was fine. I am on 10.7 video drivers.

You can disable Windows and Alt+Tab keys in game under Options.

good tip
I hit the windows key a lot sometimes when stressing and trying to hit the z or x hotkeys.
Works the same as a alt+tab for me. Takes me out of the game and it can take a long long time to have it load back up but never had it freeze except maybe once. -
Good Idea!!! lol..had no idea that option existed.
-
I get some mouse pointer corruption randomly.
No way to duplicate but it just happens every once awhile. -
To play sc2 single player, first register sc2 (obviously), then play as guest without internet. The catch is you will need to re-authenticate sc2 every 30 days (by connecting to battle net).
-
Now that you mention it, I have experienced that as well. Specifically on the final mission.

oh damn. I didn't know about that bit. -
2 Patches and they still haven't fixed the SC2 memory leak problem >:[ Come on Blizzard I don't want this game to eat up 2GB of my ram constantly
-
Well, finally figured out how to play this game with the minimal resources i have in hand.
Thanks blizz for making me go out of my way(7 days) to get ur game to work for myself who purchased it. -
The Grab and Run mission is too hard on hard

I'm having framerate problems that I didn't have during the beta. The laptop I'm using is the Sager NP2090. Right now I have every setting at lowest. During big fights my fps drops below 10. At other times its 80 or so. Any advice?

I would think u would be able to run on higher than just lowest.
What have you tried already?
there are some options for cpu peformance, those are on lowest too? what does it say for recommended?
did u try dif resolution? -
I tried three resolutions: 1680x1050 (native), 1440x900, and 1280x800. The lower resolutions provided higher frame rates during calmer portions of the game but frame rate still dropped to a crawl where there are many units fighting on the screen. In other words, my average frame rate is probably fine but the minimum frame rate I get during certain times in the game is too low.
These are all of the recommended graphics settings in the game:
Resolution: 1280x720 (I don't know it suggested this - it's the wrong aspect ratio for my monitor).
Texture quality: Medium
Graphics quality: Medium
Lighting: Low
Shadows: Medium
Reflections: Off
Effects: Medium
Post-processing: Medium
Physics: Low
Models: High
Unit Portraits: 3D
Movies: Low
I tried reducing a few settings individually, but then I reduced all of the graphics settings to the minimum, including the ones that are related to cpu performance according to the descriptions (physics and effects). None of this fixed my issue with minimum frame rates completely, though I think it helped a bit.
In the driver control panel, I've set Texture Filtering Quality to High Performance and AA and AF to off. I don't know if this is relevant, but I'm using x64 edition of Windows 7. -
Turn Unit Portraits to 2D, that will save you a good 2 - 6 FPS. Lower models to medium.
-
Where do i go to re-authenticate. I've been browsing my b.net account and have found nothing that says authenticate or re-authenticate. -
you actually have to log into bnet through sc2 to reauthenticate
-
When you have the same framerate issue, regardless of resolution/settings, that points to CPU bottlenecking.
