i did disk defrag everything and it cant be connection.

- tiberium wars C&C 3
- combat arms
- red alert 3
i play red alert 3 often
at 1st i thought it was my connection, but then again i try playing RA 3 campaign last week. it was smooth as ice on really low setting but then starting 2 days ago i start getting slow fps every after 20 minute

you try checking the battery power options and if it's set to high performance?
-
Update your driver to 180.70, and set Nvidia control setting to Performance.
A clean vista install usually fixes alot of problems as well, and makes everything alot faster than stock install when you first get the Laptop. -
yes jacob808 its in high performance
and rot112 where can i update my driver to 180.70, can you give me a link ?
when i try to update my driver they say it can only be update it from HP web site, so im still not sure about this but can you give me for information about the whole updating my driver =p
oh i also wonder if its because of my laptop ? if it is can you guys give me example, of some good laptops that i can use for both gaming and college studies that doesn't cost more then 600 $ ?
thanks in advance -
need help bump.
i also just chek my graphic card temp this morning it goes 80C at idle.
do you think having a laptop cooler would help, and if it does help which laptop cooler should i get ?
i have Hp dv2700 -
80c at idle? thats crazy, before you get a cooler, are those vents cleaned? no video card should do that at idle, a cooler would help but no solve the problem. could be hardware issue if vents are clean and not blocked
-
thanks for helping but yes i just cleaned the dust on the vent and everything.
but the temp goes to around 70C if i restart the comp, when the temp is around 70C i can play everything smooth until it goes to like 90C+ and it start laggy.
any opinions on what i should check or do ? -
Bump still need solutions =/

I have an opinion (juz correct me if i'm wrong)
Windows Vista had alot of bugs,in ur case, maybe it's because of the memory leaks which can happen when ur laptop turned on for a period of time. Memory leaks oftenly effects only the operating system, but in a period of time after the installation of the operating system, this can clutters the memory management (Vista bugs) and can effecting ur games. Some Vista tweakers can fix this problems (such as Vista Tweaks by Stardock)
As for ur tempreture probs, cpu and gpu core temp rise as they are loads. In ur case, most Vista OEM version had all the function of Vista (including unecessary ones) up and running. For example, Vista Sidebar can consume up to 25Mb of RAM and up to 50% CPU Cycles in idle, which mean CPU are loaded thus give out heat. Try disabling some unnecesary service and exe's at ur system startup.
Hopr this will help
sudden slow fps on any games that i play
