OK, yes im looking for that next new notebook and right now im contemplating on alot of issues since i havent been connected for quite a bit. my last notebook was great untill i went power hungry and "over" "fried" my vid card (btw, i recommend to everyone, by all means if you love your computer, DO NOT push your hardware to the limit by over-clocking. it got me in touble :( ) but to cut the story short im upgrading from the GeForce go 7600 to a 9000 series... as you can already pick up im a graphics/high end savvy. so now i need expertise and or gamer advice as ive received so in the past from this great community.

Now this notebook thats got me in the hook so far is the same but a major upgrade from the HP i got right now. my KEY components on this notebook are Video card and processor.

I hope you guys helping dont get tired of reading this post. I appreciate the help. :)

Ok here's whats what!... i have it set to a 512 GeForce 9600M GT as apposed to the 256 9200M GS. 4gb ram ddr2. its odvious ima need it. Now the processor im not to sure about... i dont know if the Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T5900 (2.2GHz) 800Mhz FSB is passable to the Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26 GHz) 1066Mhz FSB.... Here's why i ask

I want to be able to play BF Bad Company(primarily) in all high settings(like i played BF2142 in all high settings) and be able to run if not all, most of the next gen titles in high settings if possible, if not then dummed down a bit. im right now averaging at like $1650 with the current settings. Question is should i push it to another $100 and get the 2.26 GHz or can i save me that xtra $100.(with keep in mind of the games ill be playing ie. BF, Farcry, crisis. And a couple of RTS's like Supreme Commander, Red Alert3, etc.)

:D Much thanks to those who respond :D I appreciate the HELP :)

$1650 is a large amount of money to be spent on a notebook. If you're interested there's two notebooks that may be better for your needs, though they are just suggestions.

I don't know the exact model numbers but there is a Gateway 7811FX(I think that's it) which has the 9800M GTS video card for $1250, though it's a 17". There's also an Asus laptop with the 9800M GS, in a 15.6". Also $1250. Though the screen resolutions are low on both and the processors aren't "stellar". You might want to check those out.

And about the processor upgrade, the higher the FSB and L2 Cache, the better. I'd say $100 is a good investment, esp if you want the laptop to last you a few years.

yea, I don't think you need to spend that much to get a good gaming laptop.

Also, battlefield bad company is only a counsil game. They will not be releasing it for PC. But they are working on something else (so i've read) for the PC market.

I say, if your looking for a powerful 15.4'' notebook, in the $1600 range, look into the Asus GV50-A1

    WSXGA+ 1680X1050
    T9400 Montevina 2.53Ghz Core 2 Duo w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 35 watt
    9700M GT 512MB DDR3
    4GB DDR2 RAM
    2X 250gb HDD
    64bit Vista Premium
2 Year ASUS GLOBAL Warranty, 24/7 Tech Support, 1 Year Accidental Damage Coverage & 2-Way Pre-Paid Overnight Shipping for Repairs

    $1639, $1589.93 w/ cash discount

Hard to beat that with any other 15in model in your price range. Plus the 9700 should fulfill all of your power hungry desires.

The Gateway isn't a low resolution screen, it's a WUXGA.

for gaming the 9700M and 9800M cards will yield better framerates in games compared to the 9600M you're looking at.

wow... i greatly appreciate the responses sincerely. i thot id just stick with HP initially because it looked nice and used to but if i could get better a VId card and better specs on another brand i woundnt mind converting...

and yes im sorry for the confusion BF BC is my fault. i thot it was coming to PC. but since i havent been up to date on PC gaming i wasnt aware. Though i wouldve liked to have been ready for it and or like to run something close to the same thing with a new/working capable machine. even though BF bad company doesnt come now, would anyone think crisis(a high end requiring software) would suffice the the specs/budget im working with... or something close to it?

or any other suggestions?... that HP Dv7t series looks nice regardless

actually the 9700m series is not so hot either, just the 9700m GTS cause it has a 256bit bus. If you want more portable power the ASUS with the 9800m GS is the way to go, and low res screen will have you gaming for quite some time with high details.

The 7811 is more a desktop replacement, and while I have one and I take it places no problem, its not AS portable.

Okay, now I'm liking the Toshiba Qosmio F55-502:

    15.4" 1440x990
    T7350 2ghz
    3GB RAM
    512mb 9700gts
    320gb HDD

Can be had for $1399. The card is a little bit weaker than the 9800gs of the Asus G50Vt-X1, but it gives you what I consider a "proper" resolution, and it looks much better imo.

that gateway seems killer. the card is great, the res is good. the price is exceptionally good. just never owned a gateway and not 100% sure. but i am 95% sure that will do. the asus is good too but the price really caught me thinking about whether i should go cheep or preference. tho again im stuck on the vid card card should spend more on 9700m or save $ and get 9800m gts. Not only that but the specs like the HDD and blu-ray just look appealing. aAArg... i appreciate the help guys i really do but now im having mixed feelings. i like them both alot but it'll feel like im cheating on one then then want to run back to the other but she wont take me back. i dont kno who to tie the not with!? :(
