    Running in offline mode isn't going to work as steam has already detected that there is a patch and will want to apply it... Try backing up the game, deleting local content and reinstalling from the backup. That might work.

    Ah. Lovely Steam. :rolleyes:

    Big patch for SC2 already? Didn't the game only get released very recently?

    Wow...what in the world are they patching? That's a pretty insane sized patch. I've been watching that game, but nothing has managed to get me over the fence to actually go buy it.

    Here's the patch notes from the game's blog:

    Supreme Commander 2 v1 Patch Notes:

    * Improved path-finding and performance for larger games
    * Navigation fixes for Cybran Protobrain and UEF experimental Transport
    * Range rings for Illuminate Space Temple
    * Rare Desync fix
    * Improved Eyefinity support
    * Victory message for Players in MP game
    * Game type indicator on in-game scoreboard
    * Dead player indication on in-game scoreboard
    * Passworded games for your friends will now show up in the friends tab
    * Setting Exclusion’s in skirmish lobby will no longer reset player choices (color, team etc)
    * New Multiplayer Leaderboards
    * Also added message to players when they leave the chat on Summary screen and on Skirmish
    * Added [TEAM] tag to the messages that are sent to team only
    * Highlight on top scores in summary screen
    * MP UI polish — Multiple fixes and polish throughout the MP menus
    * Tuning of units and buildings throughout game

    I'm also on the fence about the game and curious to know why the patch would be so big. The demo scared me away from the game, but the Supcom/TA fan in me wants to get it.

    The demo made me go back and buy the original and TA on Impulse. :) No more adjecency bonuses, no more unit group facing and formation controls... they took a lot of what made SupCom awesome out, imo.

    Still, I'm going to have to get this one, purely because I loved all the previous ones! Here's to hoping it doesn't disappoint.

    lol never played either one of these games but i did look at them a lot. And from what ive heard, the sequel only seems to keep the flaws from the first one and just add more flaws?

    I read a review that said as good as the first SupCom was (and I won it) thsi one is easier to play and every bit as enjoyable if not more so.

    Sure it is easier to play. They cut out a bunch of the complexity. Civilization would be easier to play if they took out settlers and technology and just turned every city in to a glorified "make tanks" button, but it wouldn't be Civlization any more either.

    I don't know. The core gameplay is still pretty much the same, but just... dumbed down. I don't have a gripe with it. Faster gameplay and relevant units is all I can say.
