This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Is it bad for your laptop to turn it off everytime it is not is use?

    It is probably better to turn your computer off when you do not use it. I always do.

    Yep, actually better to turn it off (or hibernate) than leaving it idling.

    Turning it off reduces the wearing and degradation of the parts, like fan and such. On the other hand, you can't do stuff instantaniously if you need to turn it on.
