When I first read this it surprised me too.
Gotta hand it to ATI they came up with a great GPU and it's not far behind the 5870.

Yes very impressive 2-3 fps more in some games, loose with 2-3 fps in some games. Come again if had been 15 fps more or so. Now notebookcheck isn´t the most reliable source but.

Yes.. and some are overclocking the HD5850 to give near HD5870 performance. ATI offering great bang-per-buck.

Directx 10 was no hit and I have to wait to see if DirectX 11 will be since most games still uses the old DX9.

That has nothing do with what I meant, DX11 will not replace DX9 for a very long time, just like it was meant for DX10 to replace DX9 which really never happened. DX9 is very good as it is and has been for a very long time. Why bother replace anything that works really well as it is.

You can do most effects if you want to in DX9, the graphical effects that is. Also why most games still uses DX9 is because most games today are multiplats of console games. They are only enhanced a little by DX10 or by DX11. Just Cause 2 on the other hand is a pure DX10 game written from the ground up for the PC.

DX11 is nice if they really utilize it to make games run faster, this means most games to come uses it, but it won´t be so since the games we PC gamers get is conversion from the consoles which as we know uses DX9 Xbox 360 that is. Now if there is a exclusive PC game that uses DX11 that is another story, that game would be written specifically for the PC.
