Are there any notebooks that are 3cm or less thick and dont weigh more than 3kg that also have good graphics card such as the X800 or 6800 minimum? (No X700s pls)

I would say that the only notebook that meets your requirements is the asus W3J. It has a ATI X1600 which is good for gaming. It has a 14 inch screen and is thin too.

The only thing is that it isnt available for about a month.

Yeah, the Asus W3J is your best bet for a thin-and-light gaming notebook. The 256MB X1600 delivers performance right around the Go6800, which is a fast card indeed.

Yeah, the W3J would be perfect. It is only a select few of small notebooks that have a X1600

If you want a widescreen, the ASUS W2J would also be a consideration. Its a 17incher, but is 6lb, and very thin.

You didn't mention a screen size, only thin ;)

screen size i no biggy for me really. Is the 1600 as good as a 6800 ultra, if not, how close does it get?

Can't compared the 6800 and 6800 Ultra :p The Ultra is more powerful there.

The x1600 is very similiar to the x800/6800 Go, and faster if overclocked. However, you can't compared to the Ultra(or XT for ATI)

The 6800 and the 6800 Ultra will only be found in 17" notebooks but can be found very rarely in 15" notebooks such as the ASUS Z18sp(which I happen to own), which of course these notebooks can weigh over 8 pounds since these are MXM-III cards (high preformance) and they require a large cooling solution which some poeple can find the fans to be a bit loud.

As in terms how fast is the 6800 ultra compaired to the x1600, as chaz said that the x1600 will be near par with the normal 6800. I can only assume that the 6800 ultra is a bit faster then the x1600 since the Ultra is clocked a bit higher.

If you insist with the lighter notebook gamming option, Chaz recommend the ASUS W3J sounds like the best option.

This is really a fairly broad topic, if you complete the FAQ we can help narrow the selection down.

That assumes an unlimited budget. Thats easily pushing 4k USD. Although I'd prob do the same if I could afford it. On a side note, the Pentium 700 series processor @2Ghz with FireGL2 was just reduceed 1.5k. I think lenovo is trying to push the old models out.

And, according to the website the FireGL2 is based on ATI 9600 Architecture so wouldn't it be closer to the old X600?

I gotcha, that's fine. The Asus W2J is a great 17" notebook with an X1600, beautiful. It was mentioned earlier.

This prolly sounds like a broken record, but I would go for the W2J or W3J, just depends what size screen you want.

The T60p is indeed a superb laptop.

I have had many notebooks but somehow an IBM is different... really it seems faster somehow. Really the best brand. How good is T60p's videocard?
