    ok i got a nvida 5700 64mb gc,p4 2.8ghz,512 ram,
and i can play doom 3 on medium settings, wich actually suprised me a little.i wouldn t call it flawless but it works great .for some reason it takes about a minute or so to run nice .i also just got counter strike source wich runs as u ll probably know on the hl2 engine .i play this game on the highest setting and i works great !!!!no problem at all !!!!
so if u consider buying a laptop that can handle some games and u are not a pixel fanatic u really don t have to spend thousands of dollars on it .there is planty of cheap solutions with somewhat up to date gc like mine.
    greatings ,
    Jim

How much did it cost - can u post screenies... I'm seriously considering which GPU to get... I'm thinking along the lines of a 128 MB Mobility Radeon but that does limit my choice somewhat...

if u buy a laptop right now ,and you have some cash ,you should probably get a dell ith an ati 9800,at least that s what i want!!!
i m not that much of a gamer and i bought my "laptop" for other reasons.i bought the acer aspire 1711-v64 for a 1000$ bucks manufactorer refurbinished.it is not really a laptop ,so if you need something very portable that wouldn t be a choice for you.but i think this machine is awesome ,it s raw power with desktop parts for very litle money and an awesome sceen.also the dell laptops are usually gpu upgradeable!!!!
