quicklite do you hate ati?
every thread you posted on ati's card you say they garbage. the asus with a qx9300 is on the same terms with the 9262. some asus wins some the sager's but if you were ona budget the asus for price performance ratio wins.
i am not a fanboy for any just stating facts that i have seen and observed from it's release date.

I'm not fanboy, and I didnt say I hate ATi.
I just dont like certain end product. In this case, I dont like their 3 series, but I like 4 series.
I brought up 9262 in that post, due to the fact it can maintain the performance level for so long. -

ok i really don't like fanboys that stays on one thing. i change as times change. the asus when it had problems got killed by my system. but now it's the other way around.
just wondering why your hate there 3-series? -
the mobility 3800 series is very nice from ati...and they are sick when in crossfire...and im usually an nvidia fanboy lol

i was a nvidia fanboy because of the fact ati never had anything good. in desktops and laptops. until the 48xx were released for the desktops and killed nvidia's crown and they were force to lower prices. then i wondered why nvidia over charged and then the 38xx came out for laptop and provide excellent game play. so now i am just in the middle becuase they are both doing good jobs. i still prefer ati more though (right now at least.)
of course there are cons and pros for both but that's not going to end.
i still think the asus w90 is the best choice -
I'm at the point where I want the next best thing, my M1730 might be sold tomorrow on ebay, or I might pull it off before then. Haven't made up mind yet.
Cos Ati's 4870 mobility managed to take the performance crown, or at least equal to 280m, I doubt NV's gone to leave it at that, forced to lower price even more.
Lets face it, thats not saying much, Ati had to port their 4 series desktop chips to compete with 280m, so far, without GDDR5, they aren't outdoing NV by drastic margin; which according to the spec sheets, they ought to be. NV's mobility technology pretty much just caught up with their first gen desktop G80 chips. And If I get either W90 or 9280 next, I'm waiting to be outdated... -

yeah but they can only upgrade so much in laptops because they aren't as easy to change as desktops. (manufactures) imagine every month you see a new gpu out.....
-
guys come on , asus w90 is not a laptop , 18" is a desktop lol
-
Its just another 'desktop replacement' thats actually more powerful than most desktops.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah it is. it is faster then a 4870 single. and i am equal to a 4770.
-
Also isn't the ati 38** serie based on different architecture? its a really unique design in my oppinion.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yes it's different from the 48xxx. it uses a different core.
-
buy something that fits your budget, and suits your needs. the w90 is a great purchase because of what you get, and for the price that it is... even though the w90 is great, down the line you could probably buy a similar rig for around 1k.
btw, it sounds to me like your idea of "futureproofing" is just being able to play future games... but if the OP is asking for the "best gaming lappy," that sort of is asking what laptop can play the most games on the highest settings - not what games can i play on medium settings in the future. -

acutallt right now(the best mobile gpu to date is)the 8800m gtx sli. it is still being used under different names. it has been around for a year now. and can still max out games. you can also bios flash it to the 9800m gtx or gt. and get better performance bevause of it's higher clocks and better stabilty.
even though nvidia hasn't change there mobile line at all this benefits us as towards they can still max out games. -
How does the 8800m gtx sli beat out the 9800m gtx sli? Even if you flash the bios, the 9800m gtx will still have more shaders.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i never said it beats it at all. i said it is the best because of how long that card has been out. and nvidia didn't change up there cores or nothing. all they did was add more shaders to it in the 9800m gtx and used the same for the 9800m gt. and then now about to be 2 years it is still the same card the 280m and 260m just more shaders.
of cousre the new cards will beat it. but what i am saying is that kimdoo said that there is no future proof component. the 8800m gtx sli owners how purchased back then can say otherwise.
check the biggest on topic thread. the m1730 onwers biggest post of there systems and they don't really care for the quad core cause they can still max out games without worry.
get me? -
your selling your whitebook?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah i am. depending on the price, i am going to sell it with the qx9300, q9000 or bareboned.
-
If I bought an M1730 with X9000 and sli 8800M GTX oh, 1 1/2 years ago, I'd be more than pleased with the life of the system.
You're going for a W90, aren't you <.< -
me to
whooo
not asus though -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah i am. i'll make that system cry since i don't have to worry about temps, stuttering(just resolved a week ago), no overclock past 8.10, alot more. but i'm going to miss the 1920*1080 bios overclock(one main thing that was holding me back) and the light up keyboard.
-
mine may be for sale if they offer over clocking in the new model clevos
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
the 280m gtx sli with the qx9300 i presume.
-
for john always the best
-
maybe...or just wait for them to come with gddr5 nvidia cards...
