if the manuf specs say it has 64mb shared, does that mean it is a 64mb dedicated/64 shared? this is from a M115-S1061

No. 64MB shared means the memory is taken from the main system RAM for use by the graphics card. Doesnt indicate any information about dedicated memory. If the graphics card has dedicated memory, then that should be specifically mentioned in the specs.

from what I have seen they don't always mention if they have dedicated memory, and I thought the general rule was the 200m does 128 total so if it mentions a smaller amount than 128 shared then the rest is dedicated

My old laptop an HP dv8125nr had a x200m with 128meg dedicated/128 meg shared, I chose not to use the shared so ended up with a 128meg dedicated. However this card comes in many memory configs.

There were several different configurations of the x200(or 200m). HP used some models with the dedicated memory as well as some with shared memory. The amount of shared memory is set by the OEM, so Toshiba might have chosen to set its max to 64MB considering they sell the system with 512MB RAM. Check the system BIOS, there might be an option to increase/decrease the amount of memory shared with the graphics card. The M115-S1061 is a budget model and I wouldn't expect Toshiba to use the more expensive dedicated version considering its price.

As miner says, there are many different versions, 32MB dedicated, 128MB dedicated (64MB dedicated?)... they usually have a cap of 128MB total memory (dedicated and shared) but some go up to 256MB total. Mine is 256MB total but no dedicated, all shared. Which is weird.

I think that some (maybe the dedicated ones) can have the amount of memory shared allocated by the user from the BIOS. Others (like mine) that are all shared often have the v-ram used controlled by the computer itself, this is governed by how much total system ram you have. Mine takes 64MB from 512MB system ram and 128MB from 1GB system ram. What happens above 1GB I don't know.

Not really sure. You can check your computer specs and see how much RAM you have. Im guessing you have 62 dedicated but I might not be right.
