    trouble starting old games

    I installed Red Alert 2 and Diablo 2: LOD and have the same problem with both games. What happens is it installs fine but when i run the game the screen flickers for a couple of seconds then i see the desktop and the game is minimised. I try to restore the game and the same thing happens: flickering then back to the desktop. Sometimes i see a flash of the game i can hear the sound for like 1 sec when that happens but then the sound goes away and the game minimises.

    This is really annoying because I have UT04 and NWN installed and they run fine. I installed Q4 and that runs fine too so games do run. I have patched the games to the latest version before running them and my GPU drivers are 84.63. I even tried running the games in "win98" compatability mode and the same thing happens.

    I dont understand why its just the old games!! Can anyone help?

    I had that same problem with Counter-Strike: Source. I don't know what causes it, but after it minimises a few times it sticks around.
