I just got a laptop for school, and tried putting some games on to keep myself occupied when outside of classes
the specs include:
Model: HP Compaq 8510w
Video card: nVidia Quadro FX 570m
Processor: Intel C2D T9300 @ 2.50 GHz
RAM: 2.0 GB
at the moment, I've got warcraft 3 working perfectly on the comp, which I expected. I also put WoW on, which I'd figure would work because of its retardedly low system reqs.
When I load up the game, it plays just fine for a varying amount of time, on average about 3 mins I'd say, then crashes or freezes up entirely without any kind of warning. This also happens with Crysis, which I'm not AS surprised about, but systemrequirementslab.com says it should work just fine.
Any help on what the problem might be, as well as what I can do to fix it would be greatly appreciated. And before anyone says anything, I have tried looking at other sources, and have updated my drivers as many have told me, with absolutely no luck.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried updating your drivers?
-
fx 570 is nearly the same as the 8600 gt if am not mistaken, why do you try a 8600 gt driver from laptopvideo2go
-
just went on laptopvideo2go and downloaded the latest driver for the 8600 gt as well as the modded INF for it, which i assumed was what i was supposed to do. I installed the driver and it installed correctly, but the same thing is still happening with WoW
maybe I'm just doing something wrong or w/e the case may be, but any other possible suggestions would be appreciated. I'd really like for games to be able to work on this thing. -
Try the 169.04 driver. I've heard it does wonderous things
Do you get any error messages when the games crash? -

Download HWmonitor or some other temperature monitoring software and see what your temperatures are. You might be overheating.
-
I tried the 169.04 driver with no changes =(
In terms of error messages, all I get is the standard WoW error "WoW has encountered a problem and needs to close."
Also, I dl'd HWmonitor, and have noticed my vid cards temp gets up to about 72-73 C before shutting down.
I don't know very much about laptops, so I'm not sure if this is normal when playing games, or if this is possibly too high for the video card to run without shutting down automatically. -
It shouldn't shut down at those temps
It sounds like a typical driver error to me, do the drivers install properly?
Open up "run" from the start menu(search for it if your using vista, or push the windows key on your keyboard and r at the same time) and type "dxdiag" and hit enter,
Open the display tab and see what driver version is installed on your system.
Have you tried re-installing the game? -
dxdiag shows drivers are up to date, and I've tried reinstalling both WoW and Crysis with no luck.
Like I said, certain games work just fine such as WC3, but then again that requires a hell of a lot less in terms of system reqs to run well. Maybe I just don't know too much, but shouldn't a driver error be affecting other games too? -
A driver can work well for one game and not for another. Maybe it's just harder to find a good driver for the quadro as it's not a gaming card:\
Another member, SonDa5, has the same card. Maybe try the driver he's using or pm him to see if he had any similar issues... hope he doesn't mind -
If you haven't done so when installing the driver, make sure you run CCleaner and Driver Sweeper before installing the new driver. 570M should work fine on those games. I've ran all manner of games/demos on it and on Vista x64 no less.
-
not 100% sure what it was that fixed it, cuz I tried a few diff things, but everything is working as it should be.
Thanks everyone for all of the help -
Hi FlamesRemain33!
I have the same problem like you, but with different games (Call of Duty 5, FlatOut 3...) So, please explain what you tried. -
I would format the disk and re-isntall ur OS. That would probably solve everything and if i does not ur probably looking at a hardware error.
trying to play games with FX 570m
