Laptops, in most cases (99% of time), do not behave like desktops, so it's not that easy and straightforward to upgrade the parts inside it...
You could upgrade the CPU, but it won't be an easy task... Now, the main problem you have is the Graphic Card, in this case, a integrated graphic card... You can't upgrade that, so even if you upgrade the CPU, you'll be getting around the same performance... So the final answer is no, you can't get the laptop to run MW2 and BC2, at least not with eye candy and good framerates... -
so is the graphic card the problem or cpu .... my parent won't allow me to buy a new lap top or computer ....can only upgrade so can u please help me
-
That GPU cant be changed but you can try the VDock to hook up an external GPU for gaming.
-
you Maybe can get geforce 8600 and nvidia controller for it but it cost about 250 $ :S
-
Your laptop just isnt powerful enough to run either game. Low end processor and lack of dedicated graphics. You will need to buy a new computer to play games honestly.
-
so what
is my problem gpu or cpu or graphic card , why can't it be change and how do i change it please give me more detail please -
i can play mw2 ...but on some map i lag so bad....
-

You cannot upgrade your GPU, since it is permanently soldered to the motherboard. You can upgrade your CPU but depending on what games you play, it will be a marginal performance upgrade if your GPU can't keep up.
-
so what can i do with the gpu ....
-
You can do nothing. You have an integrated Intel GPU, which isn't suited for any modern gaming, not even at minimum settings. It cannot be upgraded or made to run ay faster.
-
If u have some spare cash , u can try out a DIY Vidock... Here's a link for the thread... it might work or it might not work... that's the best upgrade ur going to get closest to getting a new laptop....

Hope this helps.

No sorry mate, not with toshiba (I have only ever owned toshiba notebooks, my next notebook will be MSI).
If you want cheap gaming, look at MSI and gateway.
What's your budget? -
could get a toshiba for USD 1000 with decent gaming specs (A500 and M500, check www.toshibadirect.com) found it while researching for my own lappy.
T9600 Core 2 Duo
Nvidia Geforce GT230M

1. DIY ViDock - would improve your graphics performance by 10x or more. If you can do a x2 link, then could have some monster FPS with a HD5xxx.
2. Pinmod PLL overclock the cpu or upgrade the CPU
3. Convert primary HDD bay to house a SSD like X25M G2, put HDD in optical bay caddy.
See sig for details on all of the above. -
if u want cheap gaming laptops , look at ASUS and MSI ... good choice would be MSI GT729 or GT725
or ASUS G51VX which comes under $1k with great gaming performance... -
lf i sell my orignal lap top how much can i get and i want a laptop with great performance but try not to get it to 1k
thanks -
so should i tweak it or buy a new lap top under 1k -

It's up to you.
Here is a good one under 1K:
Asus G60VX at bestbuy, just search for the SKU: 9556072. -

DIY ViDock Gaming system, eg: Asus G51VX/G50VT/G60VX/G71GX, MSI GT627 Pros
- uses your existing notebook, likely with better battery life than a gaming system.
- l1/4-1/2 the price of a gaming box, depending on what video card you go for.
(HD5750, HD5770, HD5830 good budget choices)
- parts can be reused on an expresscard 2.0 system released later this year to give monster gpu performance at x1 2.0 link speed.
- can time-share the DIY VIDock with other local notebook users
- can upgrade the gpu without replacing the whole system
Cons
- need to game at a docked location with external LCD.
- need to have some technical expertise to setup.
Pros
- does what it intends out of the box.
Cons
- poor battery life, likely heavier due to more cooling requirements.
- 2-3 times more costLast edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -
Asus G60VX looks good and pretty cheap to me , and 1 question what is the level of graphic quaility can Asus G60VX get up to in game . poor , normal, medium , high or extreme ?
i brought my laptop 2 years ago and i didn't know much during that time so .. i choose a really bad laptop for my style sigh 1.6 ghz fail -

Most games on high.
The nvidia 260M is very good, I think about the same (or a little better) as the ati 4850. -
Asus G60vx or msi GT627 or G50VT, hard choice o.o
by the way i seen there is some like G50Vt X1 or X2 w.e that is ...which one is the one u talking about ? -
get the MSI GT725 or GT729.. with Q9000 and ATI 4850... should play all games on high...if u got less cash , u can get the MSI GT628 which is older version with same specs... ASUS G60 is good but why buy it if u can get a better MSI laptop and which can be overclocked at a press of a button with turbo boost in MSI laptops
-
i am confuse too many good laptop for me to choose
-
-
but what 's your opinion ?
-
I don't have an opinion on any of those laptops.. I've had my laptop for about a year and it has served me well enough to deter me from searching for another for purchase.
-
G60vx or G50vt ....so hard to choose o.o
why G50vt has like X- 1 X-2 X-3 X-4 X-5 X-6 are they same price ? are they newer or different ? -

-
the G series looks almost the same and G50vt has like 6 different version and G60x only 900 dollars which is a awesome deal and i am not sure about G50vt i couldn't find any store selling it
-
G50vt is old... like 2008... G60 is 2009... in MSI gaming laptops , there's a button which u can press on AC power... it automatically overclocks CPU and GPU i think... and this is insured in warranty somemore... i would get the MSI GT725 or GT729 as they have core 2 quad and ATI 4850... which can play crysis on very high... mind u few laptops can do this... the newer core i7 MSI GT740 has NVDIA GTS250M which is way weaker...
-
Dont listen to these guys.. Just buy an Ati HD5970, open up laptop and smash it in..
-
-
ummm so many laptop to choose from lol
-
GT725 and GT729 what's the different and how much do they coast
is Ati 4850 better than g60vx 's graphic card ? -
You could also keep the laptop and spend 400-600 and build a decent desktop to play games at home...
-
Gt is over 1 k ..i guess i will try to get g60vx any suggestion on gaming laptop under 1k ?
umm i need to do some research on g60vx
it's graphic card review is here
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-260M.14559.0.html
how much is g60j and is it good ? -
-
have g60j release yet i am wonder lf it is good or not and what's the price o.o
game 's requirement is getting higher and higher each year and i hope the laptop could last for along time ... because my current one suck -
moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
Buy one with an MXM GPU, it would be great if it's MXM3b.
Then you would have the option to upgrade the GPU whenever you want. -
this is so confusing every one give me different opinion lol
-
As for the Asus , if ppl didn't tell u this... they run hot and u can literally roast urself on them... u need to tweak them to make them run...as for MSI , they run cool and u should have no problem... if i were u , i'd spend the extra cash and get GT725 or GT729... -
o i thought they made a improvement on cooling for g60vx and reduce the noise level
and arn't those lap top like 1.5 k ?
one of my friend suggest me to get a desktop instead because he said is cheaper and better stuff in it -
moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
If you have the space for a desktop, it's probably worth getting.
Great thing about desktops is that it's easy to upgrade and overclock.
Since you already have a notebook, you might as well have a desktop for gaming and keep the notebook for the portability. -
i have a desktop and a laptop right now.. my desktop sucks because it was turn of it self and always have error and we brought it at 2003 and laptop too slow and we brought at 2007
-
moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
A cheap desktop with a 9600 GT could play most games on high, even crysis and GTA4 or medium-low settings.
Maybe you should start a new thread in the "what notebook should I buy" sub-forum:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16 -
I am sure there are a few ASUS models that run hot, but from my experience the newer ones are just fine. If you don't own one try not to limit the guy's options by simply dismissing a whole brand of laptops just because you might have heard a guy in the pub saying he had a problem with his laptop one time.
And as for having to "tweak them to make them run", what are you talking about? Turn it on, it runs. It runs damn fast too, for a laptop that cost <$700.
Why is the internet full of people too willing to provide opinions on things they have no firsthand experience of?
tweak my laptop help please
