Hey, Everyone
So i wanted to see how far i could push my card. we'll come to find out it run's good at XT Speed's. I am happy about that. i dont think these temps are bad but it was stressing the gpu to %100
I used Furmark to test temp's and stability and i ran it for a good 2 hours. it ran fine no error's or anything.
my stock speed's and temp's
Core : 500 Mem : 600
Ideal Temp's 53c Load Temp's 66c
My Overclock speed's and temp's
Core : 700 Mem : 750
Ideal Temp's 58c Load Temp's 72c
i dont think them are bad temps. i was pushing the gpu to %100. i dont think 72c will burn up my gpu. but i figured i would just ask to be safe.
My laptop
Fujitsu lifebook N6470
Intel T8100 2.1/3mb/800
Intel PM965 Express Chipset
3gb DDR2 667 Dual-Channel
2x 160gb 8mb 5400rpm Sata 1.5
Ati Mobile 2600HD DDR3 256MB PCi-Express 16x Core:500 Memory 600x2=1200
i have some picture's of my gpu and cpu heatstinks from the laptop they both have there own heatstink's the cpu has copper but the gpu dont. so i was thinking to my self could i mod or figure a way to put copper on the heatstink to maybe lower temps or get some better laptop fan's for it. so i can make it run cooler.
to be truthfull i have never heard of Fujitsu but this laptop they made is very nice. and it's very well built and i love iti just want to overclock the gpu some to get more out of it

If you have any input please add. i would like to hear some idea's if you guys have it for modding the gpu heatstink and or the cpu heatstink if its an option.

72 is fine, I"d say you can push for even more, as long as its below 85C I'd say its safe. GPU threshold temps are usually 120C
btw: my GPU max at 85C during gaming, some other laptop even does 95C (asus G1 for example) -
With overclocking, you're best to try and find a balance of boost in performance with temperature increase. I found that once you get to a certain point, heat increases quicker and is not worth it for the small performance gain. Is there really much of a difference if a game is running at 36fps instead of 38fps? But the extra heat to get that 2fps is going to increase the risk to your hardware, even if it is stable.
I would try overclocking at something like 670mhz for the core and 700mhz memory, and see how much cooler it runs (and less fan activity) and what the performance is like.
To find my max overclock, ATi Tool had to go upto 750/550 to get errors. So I know 650/500 is fine for my DDR2 HD 2600, but games run similarly at 621/477, so I overclock to 621/477 instead to reduce stress on the hardware.
Also, a cooling pad is a good idea if you're overclocking; it should drop temperatures by at least 3/4 degrees (the Notepal Infinite and the coolers by Zalman and NZXT are some of the best at the moment). -
I belive Furmark Test the video card to its max to get the max Temps and to test to make sure its stable. which i do belive games will not make the card run as hot as Furmark does. but i could be wrong to. but i dont think 72c is that bad. i cant belive my 2600pro overclock's to 2600XT's speed's which i belive it would be fine to run it like that. which it would give me better performace then the 2600pro speeds. but the 72c is %100 stress test so i belive it will be lower then that. i will play company of hero's and some other games and see how my temps are.

we'll i am happy. i oc/ed my 2600 to xt speed's and i was playing company of hero's and it did make a big differnce in the performace wise. i get 50+ fps setting med/high dx9 and my card temps never go over 65c i am just wonder how long my card will last since the temps are not that bad and this core is the same as the 2600XT.
update 2600 overclocking and temps!
