Hello everyone, I purchased my hp laptop not really thinking about gaming much but I have grown to love flight simulator x and I would like to play it on my laptop. Question is will it play right because of the graphic card.

    Game Specs:
    * Microsoft® Windows® XP SP2 / Vista
    * PC with 1 GHz equivalent or higher processor
    * 256 MB of system RAM for Windows XP SP2 / 512 MB Vista
    * 14 GB available hard disk space
    * DVD-ROM drive
    * 32 MB DirectX 9 compatible video card required
    * Sound card, speakers or headphones required for audio
    * Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
    * 56.6 Kbps or better modem for online play

    My Specs:
*Core 2 duo 1.6ghz running Vista
    2gb of memory
80gb hard drive not including the 160gb external hard drive for storage
    Dvd-ROM Drive
    Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 950 - Core
    Got soundcard
    Mouse
    And running T1

I believe i can run the game but im mainly worried about the graphics card. Its been a good graphic card but I dont know if it could support the requirements for the game can someone help me. Possibly someone that has the game on there dv6000t.

oh, a fellow FS simmer I see.
Anyway, the best way to find out is to download the actual demo before you install the full version (it takes forever to extract and install the 18GB full version).

Your processor and RAM are fine. But the graphic card is little bit off. Since it's integrated Intel Graphics, it's well known for its inability to handle complex geometries and shaders in games. Therefore to handle graphic intense application such as FSX, I highly doubt you will get any good frame rate or good looking texture and such. But you can always tweak and do trade-off between performance and visual.

As a reference. I have 1.83Ghz C2D, 2GB RAM, with 124MB GeForce Go 7400 graphic card, and Vista Premium. I ran the demo, with most graphic settings to medium-low, however with water set to high (I just love the new water with reflection and stuff, beautiful...ha ha...) so I'm getting around from 5 to 25 FPS. So you get the idea.

However don't feel disappointed if you get crappy frame rate, remember you are running the FSX demo which wasn't coded fully optimized and full of bugs, plus, FS team is working on the highly anticipated SP1 which directly deals with frame rate issues and such. If you hate to wait, then I suggest you bring back the beloved FS2004 for some kick-A$% action!

The GMA 950 will struggle to run FSX at medium settings. My HP dv8000t with a Go7400, just about runs FSX at high settings. Only just.

If you lower the settings, I notice that FSX is little different from FS2004.

No, not unless you are willing to spend and buy a whole new motherboard with the Nvidia graphics.

Even on the best computers, FSX is a bit choppy at high detail. But from memory, FS2004 was like that too. Hopefully hardware will catch up with it soon.

Basically all i want to know is will i be able to run the game with medium detail? I dont want choppy planes or terrible water or building that look flat.

    To put it simple:
Will you be able to run FSX at medium setting?
    Yes.

Will you be able to run FSX at an acceptable and smooth frame rate at that setting?
    No.

    And just for some fun:
First 2 screenshots, everything is set to Ultra with all the goodness enabled (including Light Bloom which kills frame rate), yeah, 5 FPS.
And last one is everything set to minimum, get whooping 60 FPS, ha ha...

(by the way, I used the demo for the screenshots)

I made a thread around a week ago asking if my dv6000t could handle fsx and I must say im quite surprised on what it took. I put most of my setting at high and my aircraft to ultra high and it ran great. But I think im going back to my fs2004 reason being is that there are alot more free add-ons for 2004 than fsx and besides it only requires 8mb video card instead of 32.
