    Hi,
I am new here, but I was wondering if I could get some help.
I think I need to update my graphic card, but I'm not sure how to do it.

This is the information I obtained that may be of some use to you.

    VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP
    Manufacturer: VIA/S3G
    Version: 6.14.0010.0194 (English)
    Date: 12/7/2004

I have installed an expansion pack for the sims 2, and the walls keep flashing red. I was informed I may need to update my graphic driver. (Sorry I'm not sure if that is the correct terminology!)

Thank you in advance for any help anyone may have.

    Deb

You cannot. It's part of the motherboard, so there is no way to remove it w/o ripping it out of the mobo, thus completely destroying the part. And even if you remove it somehow, there's no "slot" on ur mobo where a new card can go into.

About the driver, just go to the Control Panel and uninstall the gpu files, then go to Via's website and download the latest driver and install. In between you should reboot.

I believe he's talking about updating the driver for the card. You'll probably have to Google the name of your video card and the word driver in order to find what you are looking for.

However, updating your drivers probably won't get the game to run. The UniChrome IGP is a really weak card and is, quite frankly, less of a IGP than even the Intel cards. Integrated cards aren't built for gaming, and unless the Sims 2 box says your chip is supported it is pretty much guaranteed that it will not work.

Unforunately, the only way to get another graphics card is to purchase a new notebook.

You're not going to get 3D games to run on that video card I'm afraid. It even has trouble running games that are nearly 8 years old.

You can try looking thru VIA/S3's site and see if you can find a driver update for that model.
