Hey how easy is it to upgrade a GPU in an average notebook

say a company like asus. can they upgrade your video card for you in a couple years or is it too difficult to do that?

    Basically impossible!!! ;)

Because usually laptop graphics card are soldered on the the mother board!

Except for MXM modules but very few latops uses them, and even you do happen to find a laptop that uses MXM, not all MXM graphics modules will fit the slot!

Yeah, barely any laptops have upgradable GPU's. But you could get an external one, they can be hard to find sometimes, but you can find them!

Good question. The thing was launched in January but I have yet to see a single online (let alone retail) vendor offer it for sale.

Asus has a reputation for building buzz about systems that are basically "prototypes" long, long before the products are actually "launched."

The XG Station that they showed at CES in January of 2007 was essentially a prototype ... it wasn't an actual product launch.

As for when Asus will release the XG, it could be before Christmas this year or sometime before Christmas in 2063.

In any case, I'm sure someone will eventually release an affordable external graphics card system for notebooks ... there is a huge demand among consumers and someone will release something to get that revenue.

In regards to the sticky and trying to get people to read it, I say make it some sort of requirement or something for newly registered people to go to that link and read it before being able to post.

Sort of like those things you have to scroll down to the end and click agree in order for things to work. But in this way, before being able to post, the user has to go to the link of the sticky and then be able to post.
