What games will pop up automatically inside the Games folder?

I installed Company of Heroes and I found it inside the Games folder. I was surprised at first because I couldn't find any shortcut in the start menu, but finally found it inside the Games folder.

I installed an older game (homm3) and it didn't.

It seems to almost always work for me, I have GTA:SA and I just copied the folder off another machine of mine cos I damaged the disc and it showed up in the Games folder after the first time I ran it.
I think Vista has a list of Game EXE names and adds them if it thinks that a game on that list has been run. They don't have to be in a formal folder either, I have had games I copied on to my desktop (to apply mods to without wrecking the original install) show up, which surprised me.

Any games that are "Games For Windows" will most definitely show up in the game explorer, not anywhere else.

Almost all new games will show up in the game explorer. Sometimes at the end of game installation, they do give you the chance to create shortcut on desktop.

As for older games, they are really just hit and miss, some do, some don't. If you don't see it in game explorer, just drag and drop the game shortcut.

Like TomTom said, you can just drag a normal shortcut into the games explorer. It will even turn it into the same format as the games explorer shortcuts, with the customizable launch menu and stuff.

doesn't work for me. it will appear in the games explorer but it is just like any other shortcut (no rating)

i guess only "games for windows" will appear there with the correct format

Well of course it's not gonna have ratings for games that don't have one provided, but it still gives you the same format with the customizable launch menu. It doesn't even have to be a game, I just created a shortcut to a random text file and it works the same way.
