    hey all

just installed WC3:TFT onto my sager np 8662. It's running windows 7 right now.

However, when I connect to battle net to attempt to patch warcraft, I get an error "writing to your hard drive while trying to download a file from battle.net"

any clues on what's going on here?

You need administrative priviledges to patch. Run the game as administrator when you are going to patch and everything should be fine.

You can also disable that whole deal. (the requesting admin privaledges, in Vista, at least). Id try to do that...its such a pain...

run as admin works for patching, but my connection also drops randomly while downloading maps or playing in game, any clues? This does not happen when playing on my mac or other assorted PC's

I have read WC3 having some issues of the late, not just Win 7 but every OS due to some kind of changes made on battlenet.

WC3 works fine for me on Windows XP and on my [crappy] old Vista laptop.

What exactly is this issue? o_O

I disconnected out of every game with my friends thus far, after about 1-2 minutes into the game.

My macbook seems to connect just fine, leading me to believe it is definitely the laptop (or rather, the OS?) as opposed to the battle net servers being down

Does anyone else play WC3 on windows 7, and have any opinions/advice on the matter?

    interesting discovery:

I partitioned my drive into 2, one for windows 7, one for windows vista.
I installed warcraft 3 on windows 7 of course, but I continue to suffer frequent disconnects/dropouts.

Today, I booted up into vista and I tried accessing Warcraft 3 on the windows 7 drive. I did not expect it to work (maybe I don't understand how partitioning works?), but I was able to run WC3 and did not suffer any connection issues! I am baffled. Could this be related to the network card drivers? I think I have them up to date on both OS's, so I have no clue what's going on here...seems like a hassle to have to boot into vista every time I want to play WC3 though.
