I just bought it myself from Amazon. 36usd seems such a great deal for a game of this magnitude.

Yeah, its an amazing game, surprised they didn't market it better. It came completely out of nowhere. I only bought it as I really liked RUSE.

Played in both of the games betas, its come a long way. Its a strategy game in which strategy is more important than how fast you can click.

Modding tools aren't out yet, AI to me has been kinda buggy and coop vs AI isn't implemented yet but will be (supposedly) at the end of the month.

There is a very basic skirmish mode but it is 1v1 at the mo. the developers have promised comp stomp skirmish very soon (ie humans vs ai)

although its hard, im particularly liking this game. its almost a cross between wic and more hard core tactical sims like theatre of war.
if you love to think and plan, this is your game. although, you really dont have the luxury of time, as things can unfold pretty fast once the shooting starts.

I've been playing it! You guys are pretty spot on in terms of how it plays. I'd been looking for a good RTS to play that wasn't about how fast one could click, and this one does that perfectly.

I've really been enjoying the online 2v2 matches. I've found that anything past that and you need a really solid team, otherwise if one person doesn't hold their area the whole battle will go downhill very quickly.

I've been playing single player only and the ai is quite tough.
In mp I can imagine that you need to coordinate everything with your team or else you'll get routed quite bad.

Generally, you split the battlefield and do your own thing, only helping if the other person asks. It works for 2v2, but gets pretty hard in 3v3 and 4v4, because if anyone drops their front line and doesn't ask for help, they can lose the whole battle. In a 2v2 match, if that were to happen the other player would notice that they were being flanked and come to help ( especially because the maps are considerably smaller for 2v2). Essentially, you're right, but it's really only more complex when the teams get bigger than 2 on 2.

I am playing quite a bit of 3v3 with a couple of friends and I can imagine it would be difficult with randoms.
With a team with comms it is great, and you need to coordinate well to be effective.

We are struggling to get 3v3 ranked games though, I dont think many teams over 2 play at the moment :(

Finally got this after a long internal debate... so far its so-so... I was a bit disappointed the teams are divided into NATO vs PACT rather than specific France, USA, Russia etc, but its not too bad. Combat is good, but I absolutely HATE how I have to unlock units for multiplayer. I jumped into a mp game soon after messing around in SP for a bit, but found virtually everything was still locked... I am pretty against RTS/RTT asking for unlocks like its Call of duty or something...

Thinking of trying to play through SP just to try and unlock everything. Hopefully they implement comp stomp too

Still loving this game. Playing a lot of 2v2 and 3v3s with friends and it is so good with comms.

So glad they nerfed the smerch a bit!

On the forums they said some sort of free "DLC" - A patch in the old days really :( - is coming out in the easter break/week

Might be comp stomp + other stuff. Nice they are not money grabbing <insert word> like Activision.

Rejoice guys

Wargame - European Escalation • View topic - The first DLC for Wargame is approaching fast? and is free!

As I said, I was having some reservations initially purchasing this game, but even if I don't get really into it, I am glad I purchased (only ~$40 wasn't it as well? :D) it to show support for devs like this.

That'd be sweet - maybe at least comp stomp against AI, coz I don't know which part of the world you guys are and how the net is going to hold up.

Hope the skirmish AI is a REAL skirmish AI though, like they have in other strategy games, so that you can easily add/subtract AI allies/enemies

I'm on the West Coast of North America. I don't know about you guys, but we could create a steam group. Yeah group comp stomps would be fun, and lag wouldn't matter too much.

I'm very interested in this game, but I gave up my old desktop and now only have a Dell XPS 17 with Intel [email protected], 4 cores 8 threads, NVIDIA Optimus GeForce GT 555M 3gig (sometimes detects as 2 gig, older games see 64mb but I can often tweak them to see more memory) and 8GB ram. it is capable of 1080p but for a game like this I would not be against kicking back the resolution a little bit.

Sometimes the display adapter detects as Intel(R) HD Graphics Family like currently in the Support Center tool with 3.76GB of memory, but it doesn't seem to matter unless a game's coding will flatly refuse to run if a particular string is detected for the display adapter's name.

Does anyone know how well Wargame European Escalation will run?

I'd very much like to play it and it's currently on sale 40% off, but I don't want to find it not working on this XPS 17 laptop because by the time I get a desktop or upgrade my computer I could get it a lot cheaper than $24 USD. Many thanks in advance.

I wasn't sure if this was the right place to ask, but I googled the question and this page came up, and you're notebook/laptop geeks who are playing the game so I thought I'd take my chances. :D

It will play well in med/high settings at 1080p. I have played it on an ati 6750m @ 750/900 at 1080p high and get 35-55fps depending on zoom/amount of units . Give the 555m an overclock and you can probably play on all high settings (the 555m in my old m14x clocked really well and maintained great temps)
