i posted this thread in another section but i will re-post it here , since this section seems to be better for this kind of problems
    hello :D
i tried to overclock my 9600m gt , well i had some problems (you can check that here)
anyway , since that didn't work
i reset my clocks to default (400/800/400)
now , when i play games i noticed a serious decrease in FPS , 5 or 6 for intense games (bioshock , F.e.a.r. 2) and even more for less intense games or old game
however the good thing is that the temperature is also really lower than before , the maximum i got is 73 (crysis warhead)
before that i used to get more FPS in all games but the temperature susually get to a maximum of 86 (fear 2 , bioshock , medal of honor airborne)
now the temperature is maximum 70 on all games exept crysis warhead (73)

so my question is ,W.T.F is happening ??
i am happy because of the temps and sad because of the fps , but what confusing me is why this happened ???
i reset my clocks to default , so why his change in my gpu's performance ???
i am getting 15-25 fps in crysis warhead 1024x768 , and the detail level is "mainstream"
i think that mainstream in warhead is the equivalent to "medium" in original crysis
as for bioshock i am getting the same fps , resolution 1280x800 , details medium
i used to do better than this .......
my specs are in my sig , please help

You got your stock clocks wrong, the 9600GT I think it has 500mhz core, 1600 shader and 800 or 900 memory.

at any rate your clocks seem to be way below stock, which is why you have much lower temperatures as you are operating at much lower than your usual performance level.

    mine are 400/800/400
i am 100% sure of it
    i memorised them before overclocking
also when i click on reset clocks in evga precision the new clocks reset to 400/800/400
and one more thing , i cant overclock my memory anymore .......
if i shift it to 410 an hit apply it will go back to 400

it might be reading the clocks wrong.
all dv5t have a standard clock of 500/1250/400.
try nvidia system tools for overclocking, it's served me well.
and what drivers are you using?

Open rivatuner monitor, play crysis, check the monitor again. If clocks are 400/800/400, then you're probably forcing clocks, If it does it 500/1250/400 and stays there, and you still have low performance... then I would check if you're in power saver mode cause the cpu would be underclocked. Also while on battery 400/800/400 are maximum clocks - you must be plugged in.

wewe, as stated here and on your other post the default clocks are 500/1250/400 for the dv5t with 9600m. Rivatuner is defaulting your clocks to the 400/800/400 that you are reporting.

If you need to try Uninstalling RivaTuner and re-install your video driver. This should clean up any of the registry issues.

RivaTuner overclocks the 9600M via the drivers (via the registry) thus overwriting the BIOS clocks.

i use rivatuner to keep track of my fps in games
should i uninstall all these programs including drivers then reinstall ????
because i cannot mesure fps and temps without rivatuner .....

Use FRAPS for fps and HWMonitor for your temps.

no... if you can't get your default clocks set back correctly. Just uninstall RivaTuner, re-install your video driver, then re-install RivaTuner again to get your FPS feature back.

I suspect that when you where trying to overclock your GPU you set something (registry key) and have not fully cleared it yet. Thus RivaTuner is overwriting the BIOS clock speed with the Registry (driver) clock speeds.

You can check this by noting the core clock speed. Is it always 400Mhz even when you are surfing the web or check email? The BIOS clock speed for 2D mode is set to 169Mhz. The BIOS will auto adjust your core clock speed for 3D mode when it needs to.

    NOTE:
I would suggest when uninstalling RivaTuner to also select the option to remove all your old profiles, startup daemons, ect...

    hello
i have uninstalled rivatuner , evga precision and my drivers
then installed the drivers again , with rivatuner too
now using gpu-z my defalt temps are 500/1250/400
so i think it's all back to normal
about performance , i still get bad performance in crysis warhead
    1024x768 , settings on mainstream, FPs :17 -25
    temp : 86
wich means i am back to the normal state :p
but my gpu used to do the same performance in warhead but with 70 as max temp
there's no increase in performance while there's a big increase in temp
