I'm trying to install command and conquer generals on my Inspiron 1520, but whenever I try, the cd drive starts making a lot of noise, like a loud buzzing sound. it keeps installing fine, but I'm worried I may mess up my disc drive.
Also, I tried putting in a normal music cd and it played just fine without any loud noise.
got any advice?

That's very normal. When installing, it does that.

I noticed mine went nuts aswell when installing a game.. but i guess its normal for it to be loud by just looking at its size

M2TW made my drive go bloody nuts.

Well great. Now the game starts installing, then the InstallShield Wizard freezes.

If that's in Vista, it might well be because the UAC doesn't like you installing ANYthing. There may be another way around it, but the only way I found was to enable the Admin account and install programs in that.
