MSI Afterburner so I can keep track of my CPU load and temp too.

How so? I could only track my cpu load and temp with Afterburner.

For fps counter i use either fraps or the games built in counter if it has one. I really like being able to just record game video also. In fact i recorded a battlefield 3 video of me playin most of a round since it was starting to get way up there on drive space. now i just need to convert a 50GB video (not quite sure how ill do it but im still looking. too bad i cant just upload it to youtube as an mkv)

i also msi afterburner but that software seems to have a few conflicts with my headset software so i dont use it as much anymore

Radeon Pro. It not only shows FPS but also automatically manages my GPU settings based on which game I'm playing.

I don't know if you have an older version, or anything, but if you dig around the options you can see a lot of options for the OSD. One of them includes framerate.

Should be in Settings->Monitoring under active hardware monitoring graphs, and check Framerate and any GPU info available. Make sure to check "Show in On-Screen Display" for each value too.

    Check out MeGUI. :D
I always encode my 4gb parts then merge them with MKVToolNix into a single container.

Dxtory. Does everything Fraps does and more. It's not free though.

actually I use the beta version of the OSD server coupled with HWInfo32 to give me CPU load and CPU temp. (you can pretty much monitor everything that HWInfo32 measures with the OSD).

I don't tend to monitor my FPS very often because I don't really care that much but, when I do actually want to, I use FRAPS.

FRAPS. While I like the additional features of MSI Afterburner (rivatuner plugin?), it tends to crash some games.

MSI Afterburner. It can also track the video file's size when you record gameplay.
