up till now, if I'm not mistaken, the go 6150 is the best integrated graphics card available. Is the upcomming ati x1270 going to outpreform the go 6150? does nvidia have a decent 7 or 8 series integrated solution in the works? I'm assuming the intel X3100 or whatever it is isn't anything better than a replacement for the GMA 950.

The X3100 is supposed to be a big jump up from GMA 950 (like GMA 950 was ove 900), but I haven't seen any good reviews of X3100 yet. I'm hoping that Intel actually got competative with ATI and Nvidia in the integrated GPU market - hence driving ATI and Nvidia to improve further.

Some sites claimss that X3100 is DX10 compliant so that should force ATI and Nvidia to get some DX10 integrated parts out for us integrated GPU users. Everythign that I can find on Intel's web site (as of an hour ago) only mentions DX9.0c support though.

The latest X1250 benches in laptops are giving around 1300 in 3dmark05, which under a geforce go 7300 but well over the geforce 6150 and any other current integrated GPUs. Some dekstop motherboards have these gpus but as various aspects of the integrated graphics are cpu controlled their benchmarks don't offer reliable results for laptop machines.

With proper drivers that Intel has already demonstrated, the X should be able to run Half Life 2 and Call of Duty at good settings - that's what they had on display, running on their integrated hardware.

Do you know what kind of resolution or AA/AF settings this was at? Also, does anyone have benchmarks for this card?

Pcmag has just reviewed a few laptops with x3100 gpus, and they all score around 630 3dmark06 at 1024*768 at default settings, which is (I believe) about three times as fast as the 950.
Read the review and click on the test scores at the bottom.

I can't find the link now, but it was in a thread here. Also, benchmarks at the moment would be meaningless, without those drivers....

so is there a verdict on ATI 1270 Vs. intel X3100 yet, or is it still to early to tell? otherwise, is there any evidence that Nvidia is going to get thier act together and give a good integrated card?

It's a bit too early to tell. I still haven't seen a thorough GMA950 vs. GMA X3100 article anywhere on anandtech, extremetech, tom's hardware, or any of those megatech sites.

What we do know about the X3100 is that it's plenty powerful enough to play Half-Life 2, and everything off the Steam platform. You have any specific games in mind?

I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia has a Geforce 8100M or 8200M coming out in the next few months with their 8800M launch, but it'll be a while.

nope, nothing specific in mind. I have hardware that is sufficient for my needs for a while. I'm not exactly looking for a new laptop in the near future, I was just hoping to get some insight on what some upcoming options were. I guess for the most part it's still pretty much "wait and see" which is fine, I was just hoping there would be a bit more info. thanks.

Well, the current X3000 series drivers still do not support HW T&L. So performance should increase markedly with more driver releases.
