Probably the cheapest one is the Asus W90 at around $2000 it maintains 30+ fps at all times with it maxed out 1920x1080
It should hold a solid 50+ with new drivers, and reducing the resolution some. However as long as you do not drop below 30fps your golden and the benchmarks run so far were stock Crysis, you can optimize the game with custom configs like the CCC one to give better frame rates with equal or better visuals.
We have one for sale right now used for like 2 weeks in the for sale forum section. -

The W90VP gets my vote too.
You could wait for the new GTX 260 and 280 but we're not sure what its capable of yet. -
that Asus is something

We love our W90. BFFs.
-
Wait for the GTX260M with a Core 2 Duo or a Quad. I bet that will play Crysis well at 1680 x 1050.
-
ASUS W90, look at that its bigger than a Rare Large Headed Velocirpator. That must have one hell of a carrying case. -

XPS M1730 is also back in action with 9800m GTX SLI.

studio 17, 25-30 fps on all med 1024x768.
with studio 17, dell users probably wont miss xps m1730 even with ageia physics. -
sager np9262 i think it is
will run you a pretty penny though
crysis is a nvidia's game :/ -
yep, I wonder if Crysis is just more suited to Nvidia's architecture or drivers, personally I think it's the drivers.

The 2nd newest ATI drivers advertise up to 20-30% boost in Crysis I think it was.
I say the W90 is the way to go though because the value, just abotu $2000 to max it out on 1920x1080
the 9262 is going to cost you more, and the studio 17 and stuff wont be a while lot cheaper and give you only a fraction of the performance. -
yep, Asus W90vp. Awesome laptop for its price...yet very big and heavy.
-
I'll be more than happy if I can get a solid 30+ FPS on CCC level 5 at native res...

lvl5? isnt that the omg ultra high desktop screen shot mode only setting? I was under the impression lvl 4 is the "play" setting.
I had bad experience with CCC so I just edit a few things myself and otherwise use the default configs. -
I'm pretty sure lvl 5 is still fairly playable. Some people on this forum predicted the laptop in my sig can play ccc lvl 5 well. I think lvl 6 is the ultra high flipbook setting.

oh thats it then if its 1-6 I thought 5 was the highest.

Quadzilla's T9600 (dual core) equipped W90 averaging about 33fps (all on high and 1920x1024):

if i buy the asus w90 w/e, can it play crysis on 1600x w/e resolution or 1400 x w/e all high and get constant 30 -50 fps(not dropping below 30fps on some sections)? can anyone confirm this?

Hello guys, i was the one who gave the recommended settings for Crysis using the CCC mod,
With a 9800m GTX or GTX 280m you can play at CCC lvl 5 at 1680*1050, maybe 1920*1200, but im not too sure about that.
With the 9800m GTX you can run CCC lvl5 at 1920*1200, i am guessing the same with the 4870x2 "m", reason being because it is probably not any better than the 9800m GTX SLI.
GTO PAO11, the 9800m GTX SLI stays well above 40 FPS at all HIGH settings. So the Asus w90 should do the same, maybe a bit worse due to the "plays best on nvidia" factor. -
Has anyone been able to get drivers past 8.12 to install yet on both cards though? -

The laptops in this thread are so amazing. Ati clearly is beating nvidia in mobile gpus's theese days.
-
Nvidia still has better representation in notebooks though especialy in a dual-GPU config....i.e. more notebooks use Nvidia cards than ATI cards and SLi is used more than CrossfireX.

I have a 280GTX Overclock in my desktop, with a 3840x1024 resolution, and 2X AA, I can get barely 28 fps.
No matter what driver I tried it's about the same result -

Matrox Triple?
Thats a crazy high resolution to be getting 28fps in Crysis is pretty good actually, and turn off the AA.
Crysis has two kinds of AA, and if you turn on normal AA it turns off the other one, the other one is Edge AA its better, it makes the bushes & stuff look better and is less of a performance hit. -
yes it's triple head 2 go from matrox (digital edition)
I know only one place to change the AA, where is the others place? -

3840?! Thats insane! Really cool stuff.
-
3840? What size of screen are you running?
-
Matrox Triple Head 2 Go lets you run 3840x1024 across 3 monitors.
And if you ask me 28fps is pretty good when you're doing that.
-
The M980NU will give the W90 a battle, if it's priced right.

Its in the games inner config files, its on by default on the high or very high settings, but AA will override it so just turn AA off.
I have just a single 37" right now and I love it, great for movies, web browsing, photo work, and it gives me a good immersion into games and stuff but I do plan to do the triple monitor setup down the road when I have enough space & money for it. Its just awesome with the right monitors.
Im going to do 3x19+ with very thin bezels and have HD projector above then on a screen or the wall so that way I can use the 3x screens for games that support it or when I need the screen realistate but still have the one big screen for games that do not support it or for viewing movies/anime.
I was even thinking of building a wall setup like this \_/ and doing 3x HD projectors to use with the Maxrox instead of screens. World of Warcraft would suddenly be real life
you would have to turn your head to look around.
what is the best gaming laptop that can play crysis with smooth framerates?
