what is the hottest graphics card on the market? I am looking to buy a new laptop and i know that the 7950 with dd3 is kick ass but it isnt dx10 i was really looking forward to getting that. should I wait awhile or just purchase one of these two?

the 7950 is the best out right now. You can get a dell with 2x8700gt in SLI, which would allow you to play some games in dx10 at decent settings. But 2x7950 would be even better even if you cant play in dx10 mode.

If you can wait (who knows how long though) the 8800m will be out in the near future. Should kick the 8700's ass if its 256bit, which it should be.

I could take the heatsink off my X700 and it would be REALLY hot. ;)

If you mean which card produces the most heat, that's the Go7950GTX as noted. However, how hot the laptop itself will run is dependent on the cooling system. A Go7950GTX laptop with an excellent cooling system will run cooler than a 8600M system with a poor one.

Have you considered the Toshiba Satellite X205? You can get dual 8600M-GTs which are faster than a single 8700M-GT. The base model is the SLI1 for $2k, which is a good deal.

If you care which is the hottest,as a FYI that is the Radeon 2900 . It can make a stake and heat your room easily :p
between the 2, that is the 7950 GTX, which runs at 45W,whereas the 8700Gt runs at 29W.

Generally speaking the 7950 in SLi will give better performance than the single 8600, especially in high resolutions because of the larger bus width. The caveats are that not every game supports SLi and that shader intensive games give the 8600 a slight edge.

Look for any of the integrated Intel chipsets if you want a "graphics card" that emits little to no heat then.
