right now intel has the x3100 and nvidia has the 7150m and ati has the x1250 i think. i read that the new macbooks will have intel x4500 if so then wot would nvidia and ati have to compete.

he might have just been on a coffee high...

i think the next intel chip is the x4500, and ATI had introduced something with AMD's Puma platform, it was a hd 3450 dedicated chip but in integrated form, so just i guess its a dedicated integrated chip?

Nvidia should have a new mobile integrated GPU for Intel platform included in the upcoming MCP79 chipset( Source). They might also release the mobile version of the 8200 as an update for the 7150M for the AMD platform, although I haven't read anything about it yet, while AMD should have the mobile version of the HD3200 along with the Puma platform( Read).

All of these should be released pretty much at the same time in June or so.

AMD/ATIs new 780G integrated stuff blows the heck out of anything else on the market (in IGP) right now. I'm pretty sure it is at least three times as fast as the X3100. On the Nvidia front, I haven't heard about the performance of their latest IGP, though I bet it will compete well with the 780G.

If Intel's x4500 is going to have to pull out all the stops to compete with IGP this season.

I thought the whole idea of AMD buying ATI was to have a powerful integrated GPU solution.

Well I hear they are doing an integrated/dedicated combo where you could literally switch from your nice dedicated graphics card to an integrated WITHOUT a restart. When will that technology be out? That's what everyone is asking.

    wow, thats like Hybrid.

sounds like a phenomal tech for Laptop gamers.

    i heard about it..

Phoenix technologies which makes BIOS said that soon u cud switch entire OS without restarting your comp,

u cud even install your driver with a quick restart in 10 seconds.

its all coming in 3-4 years.

If flash memory ever gets cheap enough, I can see an OS having the option of being installed on a 1 or 2 GB flash chip fast boot. If an OS was designed to be streamlined for flash install, it would make boot times reduced greatly, and have more or less "instant on" if the critical files were all stored on the flash module.

Depends on whether or not they cut the crap out of it or not to get it on the motherboard.

intergrated IGP have been stagnant. last time i checked it was nvidia 7150, ati 1270 and intel x3100.

lol i was crazy enough to try CoD4 on my ati1270 and its playable on medium, but like 25fps and dips probably to 15 if it gets messy. lol i tried low settings and it runs swell haha id like to post some SS, how do i show the fps in the game?

IGP of ati and nividia are highly underestimated and you can do some pretty decent gaming if you wanted to. intel just sucks sad to say..
and id buy that igp 3400 of ati IF it comes out :D

Here's a link to some desktop HD3200 benches.

    http://www.silentpcreview.com/article807-page10.html

Hopefully the mobile version will have similar power. I guess it'll be called Radeon HD3200m or Radeon Xpress 3200.

Will this be used in 12" laptops?

Currently, the best graphics card in 12" laptops (USA) is the 8400G(S) in the ASUS U series.

Will we now be able to buy IGP 12" laptops from other brands, while using Intel CPU's?
