X2P, is it just with the 8600GT that it causes more harm or is it in general?

I found this benchmark test, given it is of a much inferior card, however its the only one I could find.

If you have more then 1GB of ram it will cause general system slow down rather then speed up.

Ummmm After ketting turbo cache eat up my RAM after i upgraded to 2 Gb I have get better smoothness in games and in Aeo.

BTW Turbocache will not automatically use your RAM if you are not doing anything that requires the GPU to recive more resources.

The TurboCache feature will only be used if your graphics dedicated memory runs out... only in that situation the system memory will be used to fulfill the need for more graphics memory.

You can disable the Turbo Memory from BIOS .(hit del key until a menu pops up, and look for Turbo Memory in the settings, and select disable, with either enter ur up-down keys(instructions on the right side of the panel)

Turbo Memory(Robson) is diferent from Turbo Cache, man... :D

But dont do that(on your Clevo M570RU), even if you dont have the Robson module on your PCI-E x1 slot... If you disable it on BIOS you will disable Sata AHCI, and NCQ(Native Command Queuing) will be disable too. Your SATA HDD will enter IDE mode.

"If you have more then 1GB of ram it will cause general system slow down rather then speed up."

I'm confused, wouldn't having more RAM make the amount of RAM that TurboCache eats up more insignificant thus affecting system performance less?

At 1 Gb most turbocache reaches only up to 334mb shared. 2 gb it reaches up to 896mb.

So technically it gets more RAM.

But as I told you it WILL NOT slow down your system! It will only get RAM from your system if it needs it, most of the time it won't need it especially if you have a decent GPU.

Shadowfate, what about if you have 4gb of RAM, does it reach to 1/3-1/2 then as well?

there is some way to give a fixed amount of ram to turbocache?

I mean to add just 128m or 256m, instead of the potential 7XXm its supposed to take? (like som IGP have bios options or something)

I have a Vostro 1700 and I disabled Turbo Memory and enabled AHCI. I installed the DeLL drivers and AHCI is running as the Intel Storage Matrix program group was installed. I also see it was installed in Device Manager.

Is this just specific to the Clevo notebook?

if you have more then 2gb of ram in XP dont worry about it, i apparently have 1769mb of video memory

This means nothing though, and it is only used when needed, so its not like it is constantly using that ram up.

:p We'll need that much of video memory in 2050. Also i never though vostro 1700 had a turbocache on the 8600m gt cards.

Yes, on an Clevo M570RU if you disable the Robson module, the BIOS will turn of AHCI automatically and every SATA drive will work in IDE mode.

Lol, I missread the topic :D
Turbocache just as hypermemory is more of a gimmick, using system memory for weaker gpus.
But most gpus cant even use all their dedicated memory anyway.
    There`s a 1gb x1400 with hypermemory.
Or 512 mb 7400 go with turbocache. But they still suck.
In Xp my card has 512 mb. In vista it has 1212+Mb. It may not be turbocache, but it`s useless either way.

Think of it as a page file for your GPU; when it runs out of memory, it uses a slower medium to store its data.

4gb of RAM gives you approx. 1.7gb of turbocache
