in games like Crysis, CoD4 etc....will 512kbps be enough, without lag i mean....Currently i m playing on my 128kb and whenever i shoot someone they dont die unless i shoot 2 entire rounds as them, as a result of which i die rather more quickly :D

I start to struggle when my connection drops to below 1Mb. That is with World in Conflict. That said it really depends on the ping times to the server. If I'm on a high ping time server it really makes a difference. Can you check the ping times before you enter a game in the lobby of these games? (sorry I don't really play many online games WiC being the only one at the mo).

512 should be enough to play, but it needs to be a good quality connection - if there is any fluctuation or interference then it might be a problem. This probably has to do with where you live (busy area?) and how far from the exchange you live. But in principle, once you've got 512 I think it makes the multiplayer experience a little easier ;)

hell no for 512kps, you need at least 1.5MB/sec to stay at 40 ping or blew.

I also have 512 Kbps speed My usual ping when gaming varies between 300 to 600. It depends on the traffic. The ping came from playing assault cube. There is quite a several milisecond lag that makes a difference when gaming.

You really might need more Internet speed to play smoothly

haha, ping isnt determined by Internet Speed but by mere distance to the Server.

After 256 kbps Ping isnt affected by more speed.

So 512 kbps is just enough..... 1 mbps is Recommended though if u also play on high Ping servers

Trust me...i host Gaming Servers and monitor Data packets continuously

um, are you guys suggesting that increasing bandwidth will decrease latency times?

No, i am suggesting it doesnt make a difference.

Latency is determined by Distance from Server.

exactly correct. your bandwidth isn't that important. 512 is fine. it just needs to be a good low latency connection.
