and that isnt that too expensive

The Compal IFT00 looks pretty good for gaming, since it has a GeForce 8400, rather than integrated graphics. The smaller systems, however, are concerned more with power SAVING than power PLAYING, so keep that in mind.
-
Well, there's the Lenovo Thinkpad T61p with quadro FX570M. And a zepto model with 8600GT DDR2. And Asus F8s with HD2600.
-
basically exactly loke thain1982 said ... hp dv2500 ain't too shabby either but still only has 8400
-
What's your price range?
The Asus V2s-A1 is a good choice for gaming on a 14" laptop. It has the 8600m GS 256mb gpu but costs about about $1700
Asus V2S-A1 -
Actually it isn't. The 8600M GS is gimped with a 64 bit interface, limiting the performance to slightly above 8400M GS. The Fastest 14" right now are the three I mentioned, with roughly the same performance.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Asus F8SV coming out mid november.

I was looking at the same thing a month ago, and this is what I came up with. If you're going for gaming, an 8400 is pretty horrible. The list of gaming worthy laptops includes:
Asus:
F8sv with 8600GT
F8sa with HD2600
V2s with 8600GS
Zepto:
6324 with 8600GT
6224 with 8600GT
IBM:
t61p with nv570m <-- be aware that this is a "crippled" version of the 570m.
Apple:
Macbook Pro (15.4") with 8600GT <-- I know, it's 15.4", but it's lighter and as small (or smaller) than some of the 14"ers out there.
This is pretty much your whole choice set if you really do want to game on your laptop.

What do you mean by the ''crippled'' version of 570m???
-
8400m gs isn't pretty horrible
i run bioshock 800x600 medium settings just fine
if that's pretty horrible, then what's just good? -
-
how did i never knew that...........
thanks anyways
what about the one in the 8510w? -
It's still as fast as a 8600GT witg DDR2 at lower resolutions. The V2S is crippled as well, but the performance drop is quite significant.
-
thx guys for your posts. i was thinking of the dell inspiron 1420. how good is that for gaming? aw i just wish i lived in the states. i live in canada and the thought of customs and brokerages is just discouraging
-
btw im looking at around 1500
-
What about the Sony VGN-FZ290??? It has a 8400M GS.
-
I thought the FZ has a 8400GT? In fact I am pretty sure
-
Isn't that a 64bit 8400M GT ? They exist, yes, and they are not too fast. But then again, maybe not. Just checked their webpage and it says 128bit.
And the FZ is 15,4" -
whats the best 14inch for gaming
